This is the next level of stalking. Well, fine, I am not really against it, but I doubt I will be using this. One possible use case that could be interesting is if they made it possible to seamlessly record your entire game, and share "funny moments" with the community. I bet a lot of people would be into that.

I would really not use the word "love", because that implies some sort of irrational relationship, which it is not. It just makes sense to read GamingOnLinux to get news about games on Linux, just like it makes sense to go to a shop to buy groceries. And to buy Aspyr games, because that is the quality product. You know, the organic stuff. Yeah, I am a romantic. :)

I very much agree that Penumbra games are quite a bit more immersive exactly because they feel real. The places you visit in the game seem natural somehow. Like some place you have actually been to, something that has been used by actual people. It makes you wonder what actually happen to the place.

Whereas in Amnesia you find yourself in a fantasy world where everything is possible. And where everything is possible, is there really anything you wound not expect? Does not make it for a lesser experience in itself, but it becomes more of a fictional story. Like Dracula and Frankenstein -- scary and fascinating, but not real.

As for A Machine for Pigs, I would not consider it such a bad game, as many people describe it. Sure, it is average in every possible aspect, but admit it - could be worse. The one real complaint I have about it is visibility. It is so hazy and low contrast that I had trouble seeing anything even when playing in the dark. By the time I was finished, my eyes were sore from squinting all the time trying to figure out what I was looking at.

Anyway, I am happy I can play all of these games on Linux, and discuss them here with you guys.:)

This is a great idea. Although quite maintenance-intensive, and not unique to games. Not all "normal" Linux applications respect the standard either.

Although the most annoying ones for me are those that just drop stuff into my home directory without even hiding it. Can probably be "solved" with some pre- post- scripts. Something like:

ln -s ~/.local/share/games/evilgame ~/evilgame; runevilgame.sh; rm ~/evilgame

Well, I like it because they are Linux-friendly, and support indie developers in the cut-throat saturated marked. The only way to survive is to be different, and this may be it. Even though I am not a strong believer in the future of physical game distribution. A cautious, slightly pessimistic love, I guess. :)
