SteamOS/Linux Version Of Gauntlet Cancelled

You guys are being brats. The game will come eventually maybe not on schedule for the SteamOS release but I wouldn't be so sure it's cancelled altogether, just wait and see. Pretty much never say never kinda situation, if they showed interest in SteamOS enough to say they're making a port I think that's a very good start.
Also I loved the original Gauntlet and when this game will be ready for SteamOS I'll buy it then. :) I mean what about games like Divinity Original Sin, Giana Sisters, Darksiders 1 and 2, Homefront, Saint's Row, etc. that have a Linux port promised for a while now and still haven't shown up? When they come out are you going to refuse to buy them because the developer pretty much broke some arbitrary promise of a schedule? That's ridiculous the developers aren't God they can't just make things happen, especially these smaller development teams of a few people. If they have interest I guarantee you when the opportunity arises to make a SteamOS version they will.

The stuttering is really annoying for me, maybe I'm just spoiled from Windows gaming but this is pretty bad. I mean it freezes for seconds at a time, it's not just tiny stutters too, something's happening with the memory buffer for the framerate to completely tank for up to 3 seconds or so at a time. Also my input is wonky, I'm using a wireless 360 controller and it keeps sliding everything to the left nonstop, can't select difficulty or anything really. I started the game and the character was constantly moving to the left, tried unplugging, resetting game, etc. It seems like an issue with the game.
Outside of that performance is solid, 60 FPS on Max Settings for me, with some occasional dips into 50's, it's tolerable but not ideal because an old game like this should not be hard for my hardware to max out easily at 60 FPS 1080p.
My rig:
FX 8370
GTX 970
8 GB DDR3 1866Mhz
2 TB HDD
Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca

Quoting: liamdaweSo I went and checked this just to be sure and no you're incorrect. The icon only shows up for Linux/SteamOS supported games in Big Picture mode. Windows icon is a Windows flag not a Steam Icon.Quoting: brokeassbenAre you sure? It's also the same icon they use on Windows now, I saw my friend on his laptop just yesterday and the icon on his Windows 7 bar was exactly the same. Haven't actually checked into SteamOS to see for myself.Quoting: abelthorneWell, Steam Big Picture has been out way before SteamOS so I'm not sure the games in the screenshots are really chosen in relation to the OS.opera might be onto something. The icon in the dropdown menu next to "Games I Can Play" is for SteamOS.
But I don't see which screenshot you're talking about with Payday 2 so I'm not really sure what to think. ;)
EDIT: oh, never mind, Privacy Badger was hiding the picture in the post, now I see it. Anyway, I'm not really much convinced as Overkill hasn't been very Linux-friendly. Would love to see Payday 2 on Linux, of course.

This will happen and its been obvious if you pay attention. Same procedure happened with Civ 5. Why would they show a Steam icon for games I can play? Unless it pertains to games I can play on SteamOS. Oh and the screenshots on a SteamOS blog. And its WB as the publisher which means 3 games already on Linux including AAA title Dying Light.
If you are doubtful or cant put the clues together I feel sorry for you cuz its an exciting time for SteamOS and Linux. Thank you based Valve, Linux gaming needs Valve to suceed its our only chance to have AAA games on Linux today.

If Steam Machines die then we'll barely get any AAA games, no AAA games = may as well be dead.
If you're content with only indie games that's okay, but many including myself aren't. Steam Machines is one of the biggest reasons we have so many games. Instead of putting Valve to the side and saying we did it, we should all be pushing for SteamOS's success and putting Steam Machines front and center for Linux gaming.
Let's make one thing clear, the Linux community didn't revive itself on it's own. Valve had a huge role in helping us, if you can't be grateful for that then Linux gaming is doomed to fail again. Companies like Aspyr ADMIT that the reason they're porting to Linux is because of SteamOS! If Steam Machines fail mark my words momentum for Linux gaming will come to a halt and we'll get nothing but a trickle of indie games.

To add to that Aspyr Media has done a wonderful job with their communication and the quality of the ports they bring to Linux. I wish them all the best they truly are one of my favorite developers.

I've been following our website ever since Steam on Linux was out of beta. Check it every day, I absolutely love the work this site has done, reaching out to developers and getting statistics on Linux as a gaming platform. Been using Linux since 2008 exclusively, keep up the good work. Would love a copy of the game since I've been tight on money I can't blow 60 dollars on a game but if I had the money I would definitely have already bought this by now.
