Quoting: ChronariusThat didn't make sense before platform-specific wishlisting was announced, and in the announcement it was made very clear that you should set the store filter accordingly.Quoting: tuubiWhy would anyone gaming exclusively on Linux have collected a large wishlist of non-Linux games and had the filter set to show Windows games as well?Maybe to show the developer there is a demand for a Linux port?

BTW: The actual data developers see in the wishlist report for their game gets updated daily [External Link] and is likely to reflect any changes to user platforms. I think what you're overanalysing here is just a case of poor wording.

Quoting: ChronariusNo, that is not what they are saying.I think you might be making a mountain out of a molehill. Why would anyone gaming exclusively on Linux have collected a large wishlist of non-Linux games and had the filter set to show Windows games as well? And if you have just switched and want to make a clean break, you'll most likely want to clean out your old Windows wishlist anyway.
If a user only has one platform filter selected in their Steam store preferences, adding a game to their wishlist will result in it being specially reported to the developer in a new platform-specific breakdown of the wishlist reportWhich means the game you have added with "Linux only" are reported to the developers as wishlisted for Linux. But doesn't effect your existing wishlist at all. I guess you will have to redo the whole wishlist with "Linux only" setting, and even then you can only hope that Valve gets their numbers right.

Quoting: ChronariusMost likely your wishlisted games count es "Unspecified Platform" anyway. I thought that adding the game to my whishlist, while running the Steam client on Linux, would be enough to count for Linux. Well, it doesn't *sighWhat's with the sighing? They make it quite clear that if you've set Linux as your only platform in the store preferences, your wishlist counts for Linux. There's no ambiguity. They could make the store filters more discoverable or even change the default based on platform, but I'm not sure that would be a popular change.

Valve officially confirm a new version of 'Steam Play' which includes a modified version of Wine

- The actual prefix is in a subfolder named pfx, so you should add that to the end of the WINEPREFIX path.
- For me at least the "steamapps" folder should be "SteamApps". That should actually be the default, but better check your capitalization just in case.
- Depending on your Steam Play configuration, you might want to replace "Proton 3.7" in the wine path with "Proton 3.7 Beta", and remember to put the whole path in quotes or escape the whitespace with backslashes or that obviously won't work.
Taking these into account, here's what works for me:
Proton doesn't package winetricks, but if you've got it installed locally, you can use it with Proton's wine executable by pointing the WINE environment variable to the right place, like this:

Quoting: vlademir1Just a few notes:WINEPREFIX=[your home directory]/.steam/root/steamapps/compatdata/[App ID of the game]/ ~/.steam/root/steamapps/common/Proton 3.7/dist/bin/wine winecfg
I don't remember seeing this mentioned upthread, but I also didn't read every comment. The first part of that is likely the most important, seeing as you should be able to use any winecfg or winetricks once you know the prefix to dither about with.

As of now there are still several stumbling blocks to clear, like the requirement for bleeding edge / beta graphics drivers. They'll also want to expand that whitelist a bit. These things matter if they want to make it easier for gamers to migrate to Linux. This has the potential to result in (undeserved) bad publicity for the operating system so I'd rather they take their time.

Quoting: Cyba.CowboyHave they (Valve Software) given any indication as to when they're hoping to make this available in the stable version of the Steam client for Linux-based operating systems? Or is this still a mystery? It's Valve. I bet the answer is "when it's done". Or in this case, as soon as they deem it good enough that it won't be impossible to support.
