The rather silly and quite good 'Crashlands' is now officially on Linux

Quoting: tumocshttps://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/libcurl-compat/
That package should help.
Then you LD_PRELOAD=libcurl-compat.so.4.5.0 or whatever it happens to be.
EDIT: Ofcourse first check if manjaro has the compatibility lib in it's own repos.
Quoting: ziabiceIf you ask, I already have libcurl-compat and libcurl-gnutls installed, as dependencies of steam-native package. I also have the 32-bit versions of libcurl.
:P

But do try libcurl-compat.so.4.5.0. I guess it can't hurt. Another option would be to try using the full steam runtime instead of steam-native.

EDIT: Too slow.

Quoting: ziabiceI'm on Manjaro and the game tells me:

./Crashlands: /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4: version `CURL_OPENSSL_3' not found (required by ./Crashlands)

If you ask, I already have libcurl-compat and libcurl-gnutls installed, as dependencies of steam-native package. I also have the 32-bit versions of libcurl.

Any help?
Should you maybe preload the older libcurl? Try adding "LD_PRELOAD=libcurl.so.3 %command%" to the launch options in Steam.

Just a stab in the dark.

I bought the Blackwell Bundle [External Link] for 1.29€ (-90%). Not bad for four old-school adventure games with great reviews. I'm actually familiar with the series and Dave Gilbert's work in general from the time I used to hang out at the AGS forums a decade ago, but I haven't gotten around to actually playing any of these. Should provide a few hours of budget fun.

The Linux-powered Ataribox will be available to pre-order on December 14th

Quoting: g000hIf the Nintendo Switch is "big enough" to get DOOM and Skyrim ported to it. Then if a popular name like Atari manages to pull this off as a big hit - Then Skyrim, DOOM could be ported to Atari Box... and who knows, maybe regular Linux will eventually get titles like that.
TBF Nintendo is still huge. Atari's brand alone won't do much here, and popularity doesn't mean anything if it isn't backed by the market. I doubt Bethesda bases their business decisions on hype or nostalgia.

I'm not trying to sound negative, I really hope Atari's gambit succeeds. And of the consoles, Nintendo's slice of the pie is the one an affordable "indie box" might actually take a bite out of.

Samsai streamed the game for a bit, seemed to like it as well. Thanks for reminding me to wishlist it.

A different setting for an RPG if nothing else.

Almost said "novel setting", then realized the game is actually based on a novel.

Survival game 'The Long Dark' just got a major update, prepare to face the Moose

Quoting: EikeWhy is this? Aren't mooses vegetarian and should be less interested in attacking you?
Unlike wolves, they're almost as likely to run at you than away from you (cows with calves, bulls in a rut, or just mad bastards, take your pick). And they're huge! They might not try to eat you, but they sure as hell can kick or otherwise pummel your to death.

If I remember correctly, even disregarding moose-related traffic accidents, they cause more deaths and injuries in North America and northern Europe than bears and wolves combined. Of course, there are a lot more of them around, and "more" isn't saying much when the actual numbers are low.

To say something on the actual topic: If survival games didn't stress me out so much, The Long Dark would probably be among the top three on my list.

Steam now has a form of platform-specific wishlisting, to help developers see demand

Quoting: qptain NemoThat depends on what you consider "reality". It's the number of people who are both fairly committed to only playing on Linux most of the time and still interested in the particular game.
Well I for one am so committed that you won't find non-Linux games on my wishlist. Even ones that I'd like to see on Linux.

EDIT: My point is, this only works for Linux gamers who know about this feature, don't mind filtering out Windows games on Steam's front page and don't mind cluttering up their wishlists with games they might never be able to play. That means there's bound to be a lot of potential Linux customers either unknowingly or intentionally missing from that number.
