these games have bargain table levels in my eyes and thus i buy them exactly that way (as humble bundles). revenge of the titans looks like something i might grab at some point for my netbook~

you shouldnt mix in "i buy only linux games" into the "what OS do you use for gaming" question, because they dont add up as simple.
for example i mainly use windows for gaming because linux just aint there yet for me, with most ports beeing quite buggy and amd drivers a pain - still i buy only linux supported games because i will make the move to 100% linux usage at some point. so the first question is kinda weird for me =)

Planetary Annihilation Officially Launches, Linux Is Polished Up

got this like half a year ago and even tho i was a big fan of TA i must say that PA was nothing but a disappointment in my eyes. "imense scale" doesnt do anything for immersion like in the spiritual predecessor where you had that simple but strong story of two cybernetic armies that are still fighting even tho their biological masters are dead for thousands of years, an ongoing war that has consumed million of worlds -> an atmosphere that is perfectly catched by the mixture of extreme unit counts, orchestral melancholic / blue soundtrack and depressing maps with ruins of lost civilisations in grey color schemes.
planetary annihilation doesnt do that. it basically says "screw immersion, story, emotions" and simply focusses on pure generic gameplay. im sure many will find that the most important thing to games anyway - but for me its not. if a game is so soulless i just loose my interest in an instant.

SteamOS Beta 133 Released

as soon as this stuff is ready im gonna build a small, low energy, totally passive unit that i will install at the back of my tv to serve as home server, htpc and inhouse streaming gaming unit. currently intel bailtrail would be what id look for with something like an J1900 celeron processor and a built in DC power connector (something like this) [External Link].
the delay of steamOS doesnt upset me tho.. 14nm process is coming and will allow for more processing power in a passivly cooled unit.

been on a nostalgika trip and played coop with a long friend of mine - Hammerwatch and Trine2.
we may proceed to Forced and Dungeon Defenders, which we picked up for later use. Alone i played
some Eldrich and Duke Nukem 3D .. but to be honest i hardly play anything more than some hours
before stopping to do so (unless its coop). in general im hoping that quakelive goes back to
linux support (or fails hard with their steam release, so that the comunity goes back to Q3)

The Steam Controller: Not Everyone Gets It

i think we must not underestimate the potential this thing has for the pc hardware industrie. with so much competition going on they cannot simply skip the chance to increase their customerbase by getting a chunk of marketshare from the console playerbase. their risks are relativly small (aside from the shell every steambox can be rebranded as minipc) compared to the chances. the controller can still be sold even when steamboxes would fail (given they work better for certain games than console controllers, hence the extra worktime on those) and even the OS wouldnt be a failinvestment by valve since its a nice backup if microsoft is going games4windowslive mode again to screw up their core product (steam).
overall i think its a perfect plan with shared, little risk for every participant but great opportunities. even if it partly fails (like the boxes would only be used for inhouse streaming) hardware vendors would still benefit due to selling more stuff.

Quoting: liamdaweI cannot wait for them to release it, but I do fear supply will be constantly limited unless they team up with a decent manufacturer and I don't see why they wouldn't since they obviously have the money to do so.well seeing how all those hardware manufacturers are super eager to release steamboxes already, publishing them as "steambox ready" after Valve delayed releases due to controller design not beeing complete (alienware alpha, gigabyte brix, zotac zbox en760 to name some). i bet theres mores than enough will and financial power available within the group of hardware partners to actually build those controllers. even more so because shipping both the SteamOS and the Controller are the 2 restrictions to name the pc "steambox".

i always wondered why noone ever implemented a trackball into gamepads. every finger besides thumbs are bored to death with current gamepads, even tho they are the most precise tools we got. you could easily get rid of right side accelerator and button (RT & RB) and implement a trackball there for precise aiming
if you dont know what a trackball is:

so unless you are on an nvidia card.. better try that free trial first that is available atm.

The port is well donewell thats an experience i cannot share. there are multiple threads in the supportforum that the game starts with a black screen, randomly goes crazycolor mode when you change visual settings or people that affected by massive stuttering with AMD cards every few seconds.
