Quoting: pete910Any one else have issues with phoronix, it's worse than when we was using 14400 kpbs modem for me, timed out a good few times now.

Yeah it happened to me earlier as well. My guess is a lot of people trying to read that review.

System Shock remake heads to Kickstarter, Linux is the first stretch-goal

Quoting: EhvisPlatforms as a stretch goal is a weird idea. You can't support the stretch goal individually, but if the project is funded without making the stretch goal, you can't get your money back either. Of course, that the case with every stretch goal, but in this case you're effectively left with nothing.

One could do what I am doing. If the stretch goal isn't reached by the last day I can cancel my pledge and not pay a dime. However until then they are $30 closer to that stretch goal with my pledge.

In my opinion 32 bit support should have died back in 2005. We have had 64 bit CPUs and operating systems for ages but they haven't killed off support yet. Think of the progress that could have been made elsewhere if resources and money weren't allocated to 32 bit support ?

AMD RX 480 released, AMD will possibly open up Radeon Software

I am liking what I see about the RX 480. I am going to be selling my GTX 960 for one. I am waiting for the aftermarket cards to come out though. I don't buy those crappy reference blower cards for Nvidia or AMD. Waiting for an XFX DD version, an Asus Strix version, an MSI Twin Frozr or an MSI Lightning version. Hopefully I don't have to wait long.

System Shock remake heads to Kickstarter, Linux is the first stretch-goal

I backed the game earlier tonight. I will cancel my backing if the Linux stretch goal isn't met by the last day. That is my plan. I would prefer that Linux was a higher priority to them. I wish that there had of been a Linux version of the demo. However I can't ignore the fact that I enjoyed the demo, that I think this will be a good game and that they say they are willing to make a Linux version if a goal is met.

My main concern is that they have brought 28 of their 44 games on Steam to Linux but only 4 of their 13 games on GOG to Linux. Doesn't make me very comfortable as a DRM free buyer.

Deep Silver confirm Homefront: The Revolution is still in the works for Linux

Quoting: ShmerlTwo questions. Is it coming to GOG, and will it also have no support after release?

I highly doubt it would come to GOG although if it did I would buy it instantly. Deep Silver hasn't brought a single Linux game to GOG so far and has given no reason to think they would change that.

Awesome I have that day off work. I've already entered in Powercolor's free giveaway so may as well try this as well.

We could use more FPS games on Linux so I am happy but hopefully they continue to patch it because I have not heard very good things about it so far.

Anima Gate of Memories, the good looking third person action RPG should be on Linux soon

Hopefully they plan a DRM free version at some point as well.

Done and done. One of these days I have to try different environments. I have only ever used Cinnamon with my Mint. I haven't tried Mate or KDE yet.
