Quoting: TheSHEEEPWhat problems? I cannot remember ever having problems running Minecraft on linux.
I mean, it's Java. Isn't that kind of the point?
On Ubuntu 16.04 Unity, when Alt-tabbing from Minecraft, you can not click anywhere unless you switch desktop first.

As for the Steam hardware check your Local Game stop fitst, here at least click & collect is a *lot* cheaper

Almost considering getting a 2nd link, just not sure how easy it is to switch the controller's between links when they are in range of both
If it is the same as with dongles, it is very easy to switch from one to the other.

You need to first pair the controller with each link using X+[Steam].

On that is done. When the controller is power off, use A+[Steam] to connect to the next one

You will need to update your udev rules for the Steam Controller

Quoting: 0aTTIn the past it just works. Last tried a few days ago. I never ever set udev rules for the Steam Controller. Do I have to do this now?

EDIT: I use Xubuntu 16.4.
I use Ubuntu 16.04. The Steam controllers stop working yesterday. I did the udev change at my lunch break. But they are still not working. Will have to investigate further tonight :(

Quoting: GrifterI see a lot of bluetooth being mentioned, but I was under the impression that the steam controller used plain wifi instead of bluetooth, am I mistaken? Or is this new change changing over to bluetooth? Please enlighten my ignorance.
I suspect the bluetooth changes are for the Dual Shock 4 controllers

Alienware manager on Steam Machines lull: Windows 10 changed things

Quoting: Crazy PenguinAs far I remember the Steammachines have been 100-150 Bucks cheaper with SteamOS then with Windows.
According to
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/alienware-steam-machine/pd?oc=d00asm43&l=en&s=dhs [External Link]
and
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/alienware-alpha/pd?oc=d00asm34&l=en&s=dhs [External Link]

The Alpha is £50 pound more expensive and does not come with any controller (Use to come with a Xbox 360 controller but does not seems to be the case anymore)

The latest Steam Client Beta adds native support for the PS4 Dual Shock Controller

Quoting: loggfreakcan you map the ds4 to xinput with the steam beta? it would save me a lot of trouble getting it to work on modern games... i might buy one if you can, otherwise i'm probably getting an xbox controller instead
As assume you can, is it not how the steam controller work when you use it with a gamepad configuration ?

I thinking to get one as well. My wife does not like the Steam Controller (she say it is weird but did not give it a chance) and I have some trouble with the Steam controller on the last 2 (Halloween sale) games I bought:

* Firewatch: mouse not working when loading from a save, I can use the SC as a dual stick gamepad but I hate doing that
* Mad Max: Can not use the mouse for the camera while moving using the stick. Again I would have to use the right track pad as a stick :(

Both of those issues are bug in the games no the Steam Controller.

Anyway, I heard a new version of the DS4 (2.0?) is out, which one should I get? Are they both working? What are the difference?

Edit: Additional question.
Can I charge the DS4 using a power bank or wall adapter and still be playing ? (I could not with the DS3)

'Battle vs Chess' is yet another Topware Interactive published title to come to Linux using Wine

Having wine port supported by the dev is a very good thing. I don't really care about native or not, the main points are:

* Acceptable performance
* Supported by the dev

However looking at one of the first review on steam, I will stay away from it http://steamcommunity.com/id/zest_riddler/recommended/211050/ [External Link]

Valve expects to sell 1 million Steam Controllers by early 2017, will allow configs for other controllers

Quoting: anewsondoes the onscreen keyboard work for anyone, inside or outside of big picture mode? For me it still doesn't work.
I can bring the on screen keyboard, but it does not send the text to the field.

The Steam Controller is missing other features available on Windows:
- Ability to use radial menu or touch menu in desktop mode
- Wireless Lizard mode (i.e. without steam running) is not working (it does work wired)

/Edit I thought the radial menu overlay works on Windows desktop but it does not (I don't have windows to check that)
