This seems like a very forced decision probably because of Steam, I hope they get serious though.

Not all games need cutting-edge technology, see most Android games and several PC games. The good thing is being able to run them on any OS and device where Firefox runs.
Games/apps running in a browser doesn't mean you have to download them every time you run them, they can be packaged for a one-time download like any other game. The preconceived idea that anything running in a browser must be downloaded at the moment and that it has to work online is wrong. At the same time, thinking that anything not running in a browser will work offline and that it won't depend on downloads is also wrong (Steam comes to mind).
I see the good, but like anything else it could be used in ways that we don't like.

Quoting: GuestWhy the hate for 32 bit? 32 bit programs are often faster, and use less RAM than 64 bit ones. Besides, who cares? Both work perfectly fine. (And yes, I do have a 32 bit processor in one of my computers.)Sometimes loving something is more about hating everything else than really loving anything.

Quoting: EdgarOk, good research work, it seems you're right. :)Quoting: berarmaWasn't it there from the start? I'd say so.My memory isn't very reliable, but I checked some old promotional videos and the developer's split isn't there: HIB3 [External Link], HIB4 [External Link].
They link to the proper time for your comfort ;)

Although the average paid for GNU/Linux is the highest we're the last in the totals. That means we're far behind in number of purchases.

Quoting: EdgarWasn't it there from the start? I'd say so.Quoting: al... its not fair to give the same amount to giana sisters (0$ this time) than to the swapper...The detailed split was a great addition to the HIB, now we can deliver justice among developers!

The Reason Some Games Are Delayed For Linux In Humble Indie Bundles

I think what HIB is trying to accomplish isn't easy yet, they're still going against the current after all this time. I'd like to see many of you leading the HIB and see what you'd get, maybe more maybe less. Anyway, being a customer that wants what he pays for, I just give money for games with ports already out so they're loosing some money by being late.
Steam is getting a lot of praise here, and the others get a lot of criticism like this. I'd say a lot of games on Steam are there thanks to HIB, Unity, and individuals pushing for it, like the porters, Ryan and others. Valve's interest in GNU/Linux is totally selfish compared to those others that are really pushing, IMHO.
While I think HIB could do better and I will push for that, I wouldn't be too hard but rather have a lot of respect for what they do.

You can give a little money at first, try the games then increase the money for the games that work well.

Quoting: ImantsDungeon Defenders didn't work very well for me, but Torchlight is a great port. The face bug was eventually fixed and it was the only bug I found. It even run in my underpowered netbook with integrated intel graphics.Quoting: EdgarThe old "pay what you want, DRM free, cross-platform, support charity" is now "pay what you want, unlock on steam, cross-platform, support charity".I agree with Torchlight port was bad, my character did not have a face :D. But I think Dungeon Defenders port was pretty nice or I am missing something?
Yeah, I am pissed off with them. Have you played Torchlight or Dungeon Defenders? The Linux ports are garbage! This time only the games with previous Linux support will be getting money from me.

PZ had been on Desura for a long time since Alpha and became very well known, I bought it then and I guess also many other people did, Steam sales might be not that relevant.
Some developers saying it took just a few days for them to port a game and fixing bugs means they're doing things right in the technical side, platform agnostic = future-proof. They also think is worthy not only because they earn money but because they gain freedom, any company not concerned about this will loose big opportunities. I'd say those are bright minds that will lead the way for others.

Quoting: CliffI will be skipping any more Frozenbyte games as much as I liked the original trine. When it says it runs on Linux and they actually mean it only runs on Udumbtoo I am not interested. Missing dependencies on Debian Stable and Testing for Trine the complete series.I could run them in Debian Stable and Debian Testing. Don't install deb packages, run in the console and install any libraries missing, I think it worked that way for me.

I'll be disappointed if they don't fix the DRM-free version. I couldn't finish the game due to crashes. It's a pity.
