Quoting: ricki42It's a tiny screen hooked up to a big mobo placed in front of an empty shell...Asking that they have a finished product like prototype at this stage is greatly exaggerated. I also do have my doubt but I hope they succeed.
Road Redemption Released For Linux, It's In Bad Shape

It might be an error, either this is the wrong build or someone hit the red button by accident and it wasn't supposed to be released today. Or it might be a bug that didn't happen in theirs test units, I don't think they meant to release the game with as poor performances as people are claiming to have.

This benchmark is pretty well done, I wish the benchmark of Ars Technica would have been that professional instead or using an old rig at exaggerated resolutions that now make people believe that recent games on Steam Machines are unplayable on High setting which is simply not true. Here everyone can see that even if the game doesn't have the same performances that Windows have, on the lowest end Steam Machine it should still run well above 60 FPS on Very High setting, and on a game like that there absolutely no reasons to have more than 60 FPS if you are already on the maximum setting.

Since they said it will come out very soon I'm checking every few hours, I'm really excited about this game coming to Linux. Like a lot of people I hoped that the game would come out on Nov 10th, so I'm still waiting but if this is necessary to have a game without bugs and performances issues I don't mind.
Quoting: SnevI'll probably buy the Steam controller when Rocket League comes out on linux as it's still free with the controller, right? But then it won't be a Linux sale... .Not anymore, sorry.

I did a little research and this guy is neither an employee of Warner Bros nor Avalanche Studios, he is a subcontractor and so he doesn't know anything more than us.

Quoting: Laptop65I'm a mod for Warner Brothers, not Steam (although I do help out many game companies on here, WB is just one of them).
Quoting: Yorick a developer of Batman Arkham KnightLaptop is a steam moderator who is in contact with me. He is however, not an official WB employee. But since SteamOS have been removed of the original press release I think he is probably right, the game will not come to SteamOS.
Myself, WBElderPliny, and RocksteadyGaz are employees of WB.
We are here, but Laptop is also helping us browse and report on the status and pass along feedback.
I ask that you all treat him with the respect he deserves; he is helping make the community a viable resource for as wide of audience of PC players as possible.
Falcon Northwest Is Another Company To Remove Their Steam Machine Offering For Now

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionEDIT: Let me reword this to be less combative. What console-only aspects of the gaming experience does SteamOS not yet have, that you feel it should?SteamOS is very buggy right now, there is a lot of not important but annoying bugs and still a big list of things that need to be polished to make it an enjoyable experience. But I know Valve is actively fixing this, and it should get better soon.

I bet you, if a console gamer that have never have to deal with Windows crap get a Windows powered "Steam Machine", unless you alienate him so much with PC Master Race dumbsh*t to a point where he watch the FPS counter instead of the actual game, he won't like it and he'll go back to play on consoles. Granted, consoles gamers are probably not going to like SteamOS either right now, but at least Valve is trying and that will be fixed with time.

Quoting: SynnIf you want to play the game at release at 720-900p with low quality textures just buy an Xbox One.You don't get it, XBox and PlayStation consoles are not sub-par PC with low FPS that just sell because of marketing, they have something, an experience that is far superior to what a PC can offer right now. Valve try to bring that to the PC gamers world, and at the same time get an opportunity to seduce consoles gamers, but idiots think that it's only about FPS.

It's clear now, Valve have been too kind in thrusting the existing manufacturers, thinking that since they have an enormous interest in the success of Steam Machines and even in the success of alternatives to Windows they would look farther than the short future. These manufacturers are too dumb to save themselves, they prefer to drown their market in PC Master Race dumbsh*t and look at it diminish year after year because people are sick of it and prefer to go to consoles and even tablets than to deal with this. We need something new, I think Alienware get it, but it's not enough, think are not going to change by themselves, we need people to stand up and tell things that need to be told, and neither Alienware nor Valve are doing that right now.
