I already own this game, it was actually one of the first Steam releases for Linux games I purchased. Unfortunately for a while, I've had issues with crashing due to resolution support. Refusing to run on 21:9 monitors even with black borders was a pain. I'll be interested to see if this runs now. Look forward to playing it on a more optimized engine as well, there were definetly a few quirks to this game.

What would be interesting is if they just port code the ue3 project base to ue4 - that would probably save a lot of pain :)

Nice - looking forward to listening to it. Interesting you didn't give an option to download an ogg version of your podcast though in the spirit of open source.

You forget to mention two big huge things with the remaster.
1. Director's commentary (which is wonderful to hear)
2. They gave you the option to play it with a much more intuitive interface.
mirv: I didn't get any audio stutter, that is truly a shame.

Quoting: metcardI'm getting good performance by disabling sun shadows and cloud shadows. I have vsync in kwin enabled so no tearing and I'm getting 30fps+ most of the time (some parts it has dipped to 22fps). I haven't encountered the bug where you can't secure safe zones. Every safe zone I've reached I've been able to make safe.Disabling the shadowing as much as it may improve performance makes the game look like utter crap unfortunately and really removes the mood of the game.
I'm running at 3440X1440. Maxing out everything doesn't seem to have much of a performance hit. I have textures set to medium though as I was getting flashing clouds at max, and draw distance set to minimum.
I do hope they do improve performance, as it is a very good game. I didn't much like Dead Island but, this is a whole different game with better everything.
That blur when running also needs to go, it's just terrible.
Issues I have apart from performance;
Swap being utilised - not sure if it's a problem.
Random textures pop into view - eg. I've had full trees just flash infront of me for a brief second, even though no tree is supposed to be there, walls too.

Jacob's Ladder which heavily influenced Fahrenheit actually. The end of that movie left me in silence and I felt a true emptiness for hours. I felt hollow afterwards and the film really shook me up, I'll never forget the emotions that film was able to get out of me. The performances were second to none and you can clearly see why it inspired Silent Hill, Fahrenheit and tons of other entertainment.
