Quoting: Liam DaweOuch!!! There are few things as painful as a dying drive. Glad you found something that works equally well. I hope you didn't lose too many steam games on that dead drive lol.Quoting: B-wizeAlso, Liam, when did you switch from Fedora to kubuntu?Been a couple of months now. Was trying to track down system lagging/stalling issues and tried desktop environments, distros and all sorts. Settled on Kubuntu anyway because *buntu distros are just easy....turns out it was a hardware issue in the end anyway, NVMe dying on me lol.

Quoting: RenardDesMersI was shopping for a new monitor for black Friday and was debating with myself about how useful would HDR and Freesync features be since Wayland can't support those yet and I don't really know when they'll get decent support.I initially had the same thoughts when monitor shopping. I ended up reframing my thought a little by just looking for a monitor with the most future proof features. For me, it turned out to be high refresh rate, great contrast, and excellent response time (wound up being an OLED monitor), and the HDR is just a bit of a bonus. If/when it arrives, you'll be ready if you take that approach.
Hopefully the wayland folks remember about the gamers when prioritizing the missing features.

Quoting: Liam DaweAh, apologies, forgot to specify the mapping. So I had originally mapped them using the software via Windows (although I believe this can also be done via the mobile app). Afterward though, the controller retains the configs, as I was able to set up this controller on Windows 11, completely wipe the disk and install Fedora 38 and still have the profiles I created and back button functionality (after the udev rule) post OS switch. Highly recommend the mobile app just to avoid using Windows though. I was honestly surprised the controller retained the config regardless of the host OS.Quoting: B-wizeLiam,I used the same udev rules you linked above for my 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth, and it has allowed me full back button functionality. Kind of a shame this cheaper model got rid of them though. At that price point, it would've been a hot selling item. What have you been testing the back buttons with? I've not seen anything that can pick them up, as everything basically spoofs an xbox style pad for it. AFAIK, you can only map them using their software which of course isn't on Linux.

Quoting: LanzThe lack of touchpads, especially the one on the right for aiming, makes this a non-starter. The Steam Deck is a success because of the control it gives the player. Good luck playing competitively against someone with a mouse when all you have is a joystick. This can be highly dependent on the game though. For example, Apex Legends has very strong aim assist, and it's argued that joystick aiming is more competitive, if not overpowered.
