Quoting: silverphilIs it mandatory to install nvidia-352 or can i get away with nvidia-331 (preferably) or nvidia-346 without issues or performance problems?
I have a GT 650M.
If you don't run at least those drivers everyone will look like smurfs (all blue), stability should be ok but those drivers are pretty old so your performance stability will vary.

I'd highly recommend using the supported drivers or newer.

Quoting: MaelraneAny chance being able to play this with the amd open source drivers? (Radeonsi mesa-git or even R600?)
The game uses OpenGL 4.3+ as a minimum to render correctly. This rules out open source drivers for any card until support is completed.

If you use the latest closed source AMD drivers released just a few weeks ago you should be able to play but not at a standard where we felt official support was possible.

As we said on Twitter we're working with AMD in regards to AMD card support.

Quoting: mannermanIf I buy this game through feral, will I get a code to enter in Steam or what's the deal? I don't want to install yet another game-client-installer-downloader/whatever but I do want to support feral directly :)
Steam key.

Performance of you meet the specs should be smooth and similar to what you would expect on console or windows.

We've tested on min spec Nvidia 640 cards so we know that if you have the right hardware you should have a great experience.

Settings depend on your hardware. Better hardware means higher resettings are possible. Any issues you can always contact support with details.

Quoting: subany chance to get a more detailed insight about what has not working out fine
with Catalyst/AMD than the usual:
We did explain some details on support in the spec post.

"If you wish to play the game using an AMD graphics card, you should update your graphics driver to version Catalyst 15.7 or higher. You should be able to run the game without experiencing stability issues or graphical glitches, but you may still experience poor performance."

I don't have any more details for now but I hope that gives you some insight into the current situation.

Quoting: liamdaweI just hope Feral don't bite off too much. They have a lot of ports in progress.
I wonder the same. Hopefully Feral can offer great support despite all the ports it is doing, otherwise support will be its poorest port yet.
What issues do you have with their existing ports? I haven't run into problems. In fact, their ports, along with Aspyr's, are some of the best we've got.
None. I haven't managed to buy a game ported by Feral yet. I am simply saying that with Feral porting all these games, support may be stretched rather thin.
Thanks for the concern! We've been porting multiple Mac games for years before we entered the land of Penguins so we're used to working on more than a couple of games at once. :)

Are we getting busier on the Linux side of things? Yeah we are but that's a good thing right?

Anyway I better go we have a LOT on and that's just the stuff you all know about ;)

Just to clarify the Steam store page has had information about the Mac and Linux versions added to it shortly after the announcement at GDC to clarify the timing on the Mac/Linux versions. I have included the link and store text below.

Quoting: MightyTrollzorThe only thing bothering me is that they are doing both OSX and Linux ports. that might mean lower performance and worse looks than the windows version because in the past those ports have always been limited to OpenGL 2 or 3 (e.g. Metro last light) might not be too bad for a strategy game like CoH2 but Batman and GRID could suffer from not utilizing OpenGL 4.0+.

I might be wrong, maybe OSX does support OpenGL 4.X by now i have no clue about macs but like i said i'm a bit concerned.
None of our ports are limited by only using features that are available on both Mac & Linux platforms. We develop a Mac version and a Linux version using the best features available on those individual platforms. We use OpenGL 4.x on Mac (It's supported OpenGL 4 for a few years now) and on Linux. However on Linux we have access to OpenGL 4.2 through 4.5 using the closed source drivers so we'll definitely use those features if we need them! Mac's have access to OpenCL built into the OS so that's an example of a Mac specific feature we might use.

The key message is we optimise per platform using the all of the best features available to make the best game for that OS. As you have alluded to if you only target features that are available on both platforms that will limit your options. The first two games we released on Linux were done after the Mac version was complete however those engines were not as complex. These games we've announced are being ported in parallel allowing us to optimise even more per platform which should be good news for Linux (and Mac) users as you both get the best possible port for your platform using every platform specific trick possible.

Quoting: SkarjakI always upgrade to the latest drivers. Still choppy. Still not choppy on Windows with super old drivers I haven't bothered to upgrade in ages.
Sorry to hear that, I suspect you might be running an unsupported distro/setup which has some side effects that cause the performance drop as we have no reports of people with poor performance on NV200 series (using supported OS and latest drivers).

Are you using Ubuntu 14.04 with the standard Unity window manager? Based on your comments it sounds like there is more than your card that isn't on the supported/tested list. I do know it's all likely solvable you will just need to work out what libraries/options you are using that are different to the supported ones in SteamOS/Ubuntu.

With the people on this website and other threads I don't think it will take long and it will likely improve many other games too. Good Luck!
