Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Expansion Announced
12 Jul 2015 at 2:54 am UTC

I agree with Stupendous Man, the Beamdog content isn't at the same level as the original game. It's not horrible, but it's not that good either.

I'll wait and hear the reviews.

Looks Like STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords Is Coming To Linux

This raises two questions for me:

Will KOTOR 1 get the same love? They both use the Odyssey engine, so porting 2 should get you a long ways towards having 1 ported.

Will the Linux versions make their way to GOG - I own both there.

The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter Is Being Moved To Unreal Engine 4, Should Come To Linux
27 Apr 2015 at 2:41 pm UTC

I hope it's free to current owners! I already own the game on GOG, but I've never managed to get it working very well in WINE, so I've not really played it yet.

It kind of goes without saying, I'd love to see it come to Linux!

Age of Wonders III Fully Released On Linux, Some Early Thoughts & A Port Report

According to a comment by one of the Triumph team on this blog [External Link], the Linux version isn't heading to GOG anytime soon:

We’re sorry, but GoG currently just carries the Windows version.
When Galaxy hits this might change.
The issue is managing all the builds with updates in a DRM free environment.
The windows version of Galaxy is currently in Alpha, with the Linux version to follow, so, no time soon for sure.

Why Are We Still Dual Booting?
14 Mar 2015 at 12:56 pm UTC

Quoting: tuxisagamerI haven't dualbooted since 1998 though I do keep Windows on a Virtual Machine for the 1-2 times a year I have to do something that absolutely requires Windows.

I use Windows at work and Linux at home.
Ditto, although it was 2006 for me when I ditched windows for good. With all of the great Linux games coming out, I'm also working toward quitting wine. I no longer buy games that aren't Linux native. I haven't played a game using wine in months.

It appears that my definition of Really, really soon differs from Leszek Godlewski's.

Mount & Blade: Warband Now In Beta For Linux
4 Jul 2014 at 7:05 pm UTC

Quoting: GuestWorks nicely on Arch Linux 64 bit, GTX 660, with maximum settings. Alt-tab works in the menues.

Only problems I’ve noticed:
- ~/.mbwarband/ directory instead of ~/.config/mbwarband/
- thinks my keymap is qwerty
- infinite loop at exit, you have to kill the process.
I'm also on Arch 64-bit with nvidia (GTX765M), but I can't get the configuration utility to run. It crashes with a few "wrong ELF class" messages. Did you have to do anything special to get it to run?

Metro Redux FPS Games Due At The End Of August
4 Jul 2014 at 6:54 pm UTC

I have both Metro 2033 and Last Light. Metro 2033 works fine with wine, so I've played both. I'm not sure there is enough value in the redux's to bother buying them.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition For Linux Is Still Planned

I'm pretty hopeful of it. Trent Oster has mentioned it in the baldursgate forum several times. Both of the EE games work perfectly with wine, but a native version is always preferred.

I pre-bought both of the EE games - I wonder if I will have to purchase Linux versions, or if we will get them as part of the previous purchase?

The windows version is entirely DRM free. If you purchase it from BeamDog, you need to use the DeamDog client to download the game. The game itself is DRM free to run after that, but you still need the client for updates.
