Quoting: ElectricPrismI highly recommend Cyberpunk 2077
I've been patiently waiting on that one, hearing how it's gotten much better esp. with the expansion. I think this might be the time I finally snag it and burrow in this winter with another long RPG. I've been dying to scratch the CDPR itch and hopefully this helps.

Alpha Protocol is one of my favorite worst games; so janky, so broken and unbalances, but still one of my tops for choice and consequences. Not as big a sale as it should probably be at this point, but still worth it if you can overlook having to fight the game half the time.

Yakuza series is always a big recommendation for me. I picked them up and started with 0 last summer and now have gotten through all of them, including both Judgments, Ishin, etc. Personally not a fan of the directions they went starting with 7 but 0-6 are one of my all time favorite gaming experiences, even the older dated ones. They all ran well on the deck too, though the newer engine ones (6/K2 forward) are a bit sluggish in spots.
CyberPunk 2077: 60+ hours in and the number of glitches are very few. And the scope of the game is just incredible. If you like Metal Gear Solid 2, System Shock, it has a cameo from Portal 2 side-quest -- we're playing 4k@60hz on RX 7900 XTX and it's really a work of art in a way I didn't expect -- I would always see the banner of it on the store and just be like "nah", but yeah in my opinion it's ready and worth getting the expansion too straight away.

Thanks for the other recommendations, I guess we got some sales starting up

I highly recommend Cyberpunk 2077 if you liked System Shock 2. Worth every penny.

Quoting: ElectricPrismNow that HB is a subsidiary of IGN, does anyone remember who HB's copycats and lookalikes were?

I would prefer to keep an eye on the Indie and side market. HB is kindof like going to the mall.

I don't know if GMG ever did any bundles

I might have been thinking of Fanatical (Bundle Stars), looks like SS is 17.99 there at the moment

There was the one that shut down. And there might have been another one, help me out if anyone remembers.
IndieGala maybe? That one's still around.
Thanks :)

Quoting: Craggles086Yeah, gotta work out if I get this one or wait for Steam Deck 2 now
AFAIK Valve developers commented that their intended Steam Deck release cycle would be (estimated no less than 4 years intervals, certainly not following the gpu trend of 1 or 2 years) -- this presents fewer targets for game developers and allows purchasers to enjoy their handheld consoles longer instead of be obsoleted every year or two.

Quoting: Craggles086Meanwhile New Zealand must be fuming as no mention of it in the release notes..
My NZ friends notoriously would fly for years to Aussy if they needed new gear (eg: Apple), so I've just been under the impression that 'It's a kiwi thang'.

Half-Life 2 free to keep until November 18th, Episodes One & Two now included with a huge update

Quoting: EikeSo Half-Life is on Linux for more than half of its live!?!
Half-Life may have started in the future natively on Linux and then been sent back in time for pre-release only to be re-released in the past on Linux in the year 2013 just in time for it's re-release in it's 20th form in the present in 2024.

The question is, when does Half-Life release in the future?

I recently set a Half-Life 2 wallpaper on one of my gaming computers -- I can see that they have a bunch of 4k wallpapers at the bottom -- fantastic timing.

These titles are so old they should license the code as open source and dump it on the net. It would do well for their legacy and reputation to immortalize their roots.

Then of course it could get the Doom and HL treatment and get RTX ray-tracing and other QOL improvements and kinder a modder community and cult following.

It's funny to think that their business partner's core values of chinese ideology are more in line with freely sharing inventions and not hoarding ideas or likeness.

It's great that people are free to play however I feel like the hole in the genre has been filled & replaced by GPL'd https://xonotic.org [External Link]

Valve dev details more on the work behind making Steam for Linux more stable

Quoting: hummer010I'd just like to see Valve move into the 2010's and make the Steam client 64-bit.
I'll second that. I think Steam is probably the only thing keeping 32-bit multilib around for me. It would be nice to see it go for organization and cleanliness.
