Parkitect - What Roller Coaster Tycoon Should Have Grown Into

But, if I can buy and play this just like any other game with a one-off fee, I'm sold... In fact, I'm so impressed, I'll probably have this on or about Launch Day!

Quoting: coeseta*throws money at screen* Take it! TAKE IT!I feel the same way... Unless it is filled with those stupid in-game purchases or even worse, uses a so-called "freemium" pricing model.

Yep, both games are now on my "wish-list"... Once the "Enchanted Edition" supports Linux-based operating systems, I'll buy both.
This game - which I've never heard of - looks incredible, by the way...

Well now that I have made the full-time jump to Ubuntu, GamingOnLinux and Aspyr Media have me completely covered... GamingOnLinux is now quite literally one of my favorite gaming sites, and the world would be much more dull without Aspyr Media.
It's fantastic to see such devotion from Aspyr Media towards Linux-based operating systems, particular when "the cool kids" are often shunning such operating systems, and I now consider them one of my favorite publihers, whom I watch closely for every new release!
Keep up the great work, guys!

Dead Island Zombie Game Now Available On Linux For Some (updated)

The integrated (Intel) side of the house works surprisingly well and is somewhat helped by Intel actually bothering to put some effort into updates/upgrades, though it's not very powerful (obviously!)... AMD on the other hand, is a whole other story.
AMD's support for their graphics cards under Linux-based operating systems is absolutely appalling and I've had enough - next time around, it's a single-graphics card setup, powered by NVIDIA!
I will never, ever use a product with AMD graphics again... Ever.

Quoting: iensensamaFirst off I have been running the game on my intel NUC D54250WYK (Haswell i5 with HD graphics 5000), it's not exactly a "gaming-rig" but still... In Windows I could play the game in 720p with most settings on high (no AA or AF), with a pretty respectable framerate somewhere in the range of 30-60 (I was amazed of how well the engine performed on low-end graphics, only beaten by the source engine I think). In the Linux version however, the game is stuttering around at 10-15 frames on the lowest possible graphics settings (and resolution).I have one of those stupid dual-graphics setups and now that I use Ubuntu exclusively, I am not impressed.
I think we can attribute a lot of this to the inferior graphics drivers that intel provides for Linux (they are still impressive, just not as good as those available for Windows).

I was referring to what the media and seemingly the majority of the public thought of the game... As for myself, I actually quite liked MP (though I never did get around to finishing it...).

Quoting: HamishIt was certainly ten times the game that DNF was despite what you claim, and in someways it was actually where Duke was on his best form, in terms of both the quality of his lines as well as the general portrayal of his character. It was not perfect but MP was still a very fun game. You mis-understand me.

Quoting: HamishAlso, if they do have proper source code access to it then it would be an absolute doddle to port to Linux and Mac as they already had full OpenGL support to begin with. A professional porting contractor could probably at least get the game running on Linux or Mac in a day or two without too much trouble.See, I am only sort-of familiar with the work involved in porting a game, but if it's as easy as you lead me to believe, it would certainly be preferred considering that in most cases, native support runs better than a compatibility layer like WINE, an emulator or a virtual machine...
In fact, I would wager that in terms of difficulty making a native port or doing a supported WINE wrap would actually be about the same in terms of effort, especially when you consider the fact that they are targeting both Linux and Mac here.
A lot of people these days make porting out to be far more difficult than it really is, especially when proper cross-platform technologies were taken into account in the first place.

All these big publishers and these big games that have been becoming available to Linux-based operating systems over the last year or so?
It's the start of a revolution and it's only going to get better with time as more realize that Linux is not the barren wasteland so many developers have often considered it...
Although Duke Nukem Forever wasn't as good as it was hyped-up to be/many people were expecting, it was nowhere near as bad as most of the media and the public made out... In fact, my biggest complaint was that the graphics looked a little out-dated.
Other than that, I quite liked Duke Nukem Forever.
I don't think we'll see it on Linux-based operating systems though, because as you pointed-out, Gearbox Software are notoriously anti-Linux...

Quoting: SabunI'm surprised they're suddenly interested in bringing it to Linux as well.It begins with a stream, which becomes a river, which becomes rapids, which becomes a waterfall...

Quoting: compholioOMG, I would buy these games just for Commander Keen on Linux.I hear you buddy, and I feel the same.
Quoting: JSVRamirezSuch a shame that DNF development ended up with Gearbox, one of the most Linux unfriendly devs out there. I'd love to have seen that in this box.Yep.

Quoting: HamishI wonder what they are doing with Manhattan Project, whether or not it will be WINE wrapped or instead a proper native port. It'll be a WINE port, because I highly doubt they'd go to the effort of natively porting a game that was only considered "average" to "above average" to begin with...
