Quoting: WorMzyThanks for posting this write up! I picked this game up on the back of this article and I'm having a lot of fun so far. I'm still not sure I understand how the social standing thing works, but I'm slowly building my business empire, starting with a corral raising ducks, then buying a plot of land and building a butchers to process the carcasses. I'm currently trying to befriend another resident who owns both of the woodcutter buildings in the village, so I can buy one from them and maybe monopolise enough wood to build a nice house on another plot of land I bought, so I have a nice place for myself, my wife, and our four girls to live in. I'm still fairly young, but maybe I'll try out for one of the order positions once I'm of that age, in the meantime I'm happy playing the markets, slowly building my income, and building the foundations of a successful business that my children will inherit and continue my legacy!
I'm glad you're enjoying it! It sounds like you're definitely making some progress, hopefully you get a lot of hours of enjoyment.

On social standing, if you're talking about the named rank that you're given, I believe it's based on how much money you have. It controls how many buildings you can own at a time. If you're talking about your rank on the notable families tab, that's controlled by a lot of things. This link [External Link] is the developer giving a bit of an explanation of it.

Quoting: AtorcoppeI'm the developer of SAELIG, and I just wanted to say thank you. It always brings me joy to see other people enjoying this weird little niche game I've made. It's also nice to see that the Linux build is working well! I personally don't play or develop on Linux, but I strongly believe that Linux & MacOS deserve more gaming love.

You'll be thrilled to learn that I have noted down the constructive feedback and will be implementing it all soon. When the next update comes the Wiki will work on Linux, and you'll be able to right click on the buildings in your building menu. I also have a lot of improvements for first person planned, along major tweaks to the character system in the coming few updates.

I'll be first to admit that SAELIG is an odd game. It's the combination of lots of genres to create some strange super niche melting pot. I'm just always amazed that there are so many people out there that can appreciate the game as much as I do.
It's really great to hear from you! I want to thank you for the game as well! I don't want to speak for everyone, but I think a lot of the Linux gaming community really appreciates getting native builds, even though we have some excellent tools like Wine and Proton.

I'm certainly looking forward to future updates, and I appreciate your willingness to implement suggestions like that! That makes projects like this very special. I'm glad I could potentially help get some more eyes on it.

Quoting: fabertaweThis sounds right up my street. Will be investigating forthwith! Thanks for the review and alerting me to it.
You're very welcome! If you're anything like me, Steam doesn't seem to know what to recommend to me other than popular new games. The only reason I found this game was a random recommendation on a forum somewhere.
Quoting: KorhakaI remember buying it many years ago, it seemed interesting but didn't play much. Kept meaning to go back and try it again, think now sounds like a good time to do so.
There's been a lot of new content added over the years, so hopefully you get some enjoyment out of it! I didn't touch on it much in the review, but the developer added Viking raids about two months ago. I honestly haven't played with raids enabled much, but when I have it adds a bit of extra challenge.
Quoting: TcheyI play this game from time to time, since early 2018, and it’s nice to see its name poping here !
You've been playing a while longer than I have then! I'm happy to get it in front of a few more eyes, it seems there are at least a few people intrigued enough to try it out.

Quoting: Mountain ManBasically, it's a roleplaying game without a narrative, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Yes, that's correct! You make your own, and that's one of the reasons I like it so well. The planned feature list mentions additional missions, adventures, and war events, but I don't think they're planning to add an actual story.

Quoting: DorritWhat's an "npc face"?
NPC stands for non player character. In this case I'm referencing the other villagers in the game and my hope that there will be a wider variety of face models in the future.

Quoting: PenglingThis isn't the sort of game that I would usually play, but I just wanted to say thanks for the informative and entertaining review.
You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Also, I got a good chuckle out of the screenshot showcasing the guy who set the shed on fire!
The entire time the rest of the village was hauling water for the fire he just stood there! Hopefully the captain of the guard grabs him.

When you perfect this, be sure to upload it as a community layout!
I definitely plan to do that! I've gotten a lot of benefit from community layouts since I got my Deck.
