Might not be liams cup of tea. But I'll be very happy to see this ported! Thanks for all you do Ryan! <3

Looks like a Linux version of Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation with Vulkan is still on the table

There was a release video:

It's interesting to see the DirectX12 vs Vulkan benchmark results. At lower resolutions performance is comparable:

But at higher resolutions Nvidia seems to have an issue:

Cossacks 3: The Golden Age DLC announced, releasing this month

Quoting: jplatte@N30N: Are you using an open-source driver though? So far I've not heard from a single person that it works with mesa in their setup. It seems to only function with the proprietary nvidia or amd drivers (and I think with newer amd cards even that won't work because the new driver also uses mesa, but I might be wrong about that).
No & I'm sorry say I've not the hardware at hand to test.

Quoting: liamdaweHave you sent in a bug report to them?
I'm not @omer666, but I have the same problem on arch linux. The game just segfaults on launch (doesn't matter whether I run steam with the runtime enabled or disabled). After asking about it the Steam Forum, they told me to send an email. Which I did, but they only ran me through some basic troubleshooting and then that was it. I didn't have the impression that they actually looked into the segfault. Plus I'm pretty sure they would have had to add me to some sort of debug beta to get usable info about the crash, given that the debugging info available from the segfault message and the console output is basically non-existent.
As I've posted on a previous article, the game runs fine for me here on Arch (the Steam runtime is required for audio). Make sure to check the Arch wiki for known steam runtime issues [External Link] that could be effecting you.

Beyond Enemy Lines, a single-player tactical FPS looks like it's heading to Linux (updated)

Quoting: Whitewolfe80Could be interesting story driven fps on linux would be nice as we tend to get arena shooters and very little in terms of narrative driven fps games.
Huh? Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Spec Ops: The Line, the Metro games, ect... It's modern arena shooters that we're severely lacking.

Cossacks 3 has been patched and it should now work a lot better on Linux

Quoting: IdleGandalfI got no sound ingame as well. The discussion thread on steam indicates that this is more likely to happen on Arch, don't know what's causing it tho.
I'm on Arch and the sound works fine when using the steam-runtime, e.g. set the launch options [External Link] to: ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/run.sh %command%

Steam just keeps growing according to a presentation Valve did recently, UI update is coming

Quoting: MetallinatusThe fact that Linux can keep itself around the 1% mark all the time despite all the growing going on at Steam shows that the number of people on Linux there is growing more or less in the same pace. Remember when we were ≃1% of 10 million? Well, now we are ≃1% of 14 million! But still "the market is too small", amirite....?
No, the ≃1% is of active monthly users [External Link], which the above slide says is 67 million. We have no stats for peak concurrent Linux users.

What is interesting is that this shows that the 125 million "active" users accounts [External Link], Valve talked about back in 2015, are not actually used all that often.

Linux/SteamOS support has also been added for the DLC. Unfortunately existing users don't get a discount, so I've requested a refund so I can pick up the Complete Experience edition.

Planetary Annihilation: TITANS updated and still alive, adds new free commanders and more

Quoting: rkfgI'm playing galactic war every day now and I really like it! The game felt overwhelming on hard at first but then I read some beginner tips and started getting grip on it. Always expand, always scout, harass the enemy from all sides, don't let resources to be in the blue zone (that means you waste them) and you'll be ok. At least against the AI. BTW, it uses neural networks internally which is interesting by itself.
Sounds like you found the exodus guides [External Link]. ^_^

When you want more of a challenge there's the Queller AI [External Link] mod. But IMO the real fun is over in multiplayer. ;)

Quoting: GeopirateI stopped playing when they announced you had to pay for Titans to get the full game experience that was promised initially....
There's nothing shady about trying to fund additional development/support with an expansion (that's very reasonably priced too). Nothing in the expansion was advertised to be included in the original game. As a Kickstarter backer you got a copy of the Titans expansion (I got a free copy too just for being a competitive player).
