Red Eclipse: A Lightweight, Open-source, Highly-engaging FPS

I liked this game since long time ago, but it's difficult to overcome the overcrowded fps gaming market. If they ported their game to Tesseract engine (a modern implementation of Cube engine) and keep on improving scenery assets, them they could gain more points.

Edit: Ohhh Fundraiser 2015 [External Link] I think I will donate again!, they intend to do that, and Tesseract its a awesome Open Source engine. Please consider donate [External Link]!

Master Of Orion 1 & 2 Now Available On Linux, Thanks To GOG
12 May 2015 at 9:20 pm UTC

I finish many times both year ago, and I prefer Master Orion I as the second introduced a lot of micromanagement in the colonies and also, after ditching grouping in fleets, some manual battle between huge fleets could take hours moving each ship one by one. But I love both.

It's a pitty it isn't 100% confirmed with a date settled, its on discount this weekend, 50% off ... but too risky until released.

Lucasfilm Point-And-Click Classics Zak McKracken, LOOM and The Dig Now Available On GOG
20 Mar 2015 at 2:44 pm UTC

Thanks!, its a pitty that doesn't work with the proper app of the GUI, this could discourage some users. Qapt should be improved.

Quoting: fleskThanks for the detailed information, DrMcCoy and Shmerl.

Quoting: FurorI have problems installing the deb package of Loom and The Dig, it says ok but it didn't install anything. Anyone more have this problem?
I think it's because of the EULA. QApt doesn't work for me either (I'm assuming that's what you're using, since you're on Kubuntu too). Using dpkg works though:

sudo dpkg -i gog_loom_1.0.0.5.deb

and

sudo dpkg -i gog_the_dig_1.0.0.5.deb

Alternatively, you can extract the games from the packages.

OpenClonk 6 Reimplements Fog Of War
17 Mar 2015 at 6:03 pm UTC

It's very different to Terraria, its based on a old commercial game called Clonk. You have different modes, survival, parkour (going from A to B) ... I highly recommend this one, in multiplayer overall. Suitable for casual plays, or long ones but without investing half of life :D

Unreal Engine Is Now Free, Including Access To The Source Code

Quoting: Yamagatatony1ab, The editor works great on Linux. Thanks to an enormous amount of work over the last 6+ releases, the editor has compiled and run on Linux for quite awhile. Recently it's gotten pretty spectacular, you no longer need to patch anything for the ability to integrate with QtCreator for generation of C++ projects. I did a fresh clone of the latest release tag from the repo a few days ago and it all works great. They've even got a Linux-specific native build README.md file in the source, it's linked from the top-level README.md file under the section related to building natively on Linux.

Also, a great deal of credit for the Linux compatibility should go to the folks at #UE4Linux on Freenode; they have done a huge amount of voluntary work to get everything up and running.
Wooow!!! So there is already a repository ready to use?

Crimsonland Arrives On Linux 11 Years After Windows, Promises Top Down Bloody Action

Quoting: Projectile VomitI've been playing Violetland in Linux for years, now. I've never played Crimsonland, however. After watching the above video, they look similar.

Has anyone played both? What are the differences?
I played both, in my ignorance even I thought that were the same guys that did it, until I knew that Crimsonland was the original one in 2003.

I recommend you Crimsonland, the graphical assets are better, there is quest mode to unlock weapons, the effects are cool, your friends could join in the middle of your match (localy all in your pc) in order to kill that aliens in coop mode ... Also now its cheap 5,59$.

The Linux version seems well programmed, all is ultra smooth.

Ideal for casual alien killing :)
