Yes, well. As with the MS acquisition, it sucks. Way too much of this kind of thing going on.
I just hope that ultimately it turns out that new studios come up faster than the big boys can cannibalize them.

Quoting: EikeTrue enough. If there was no way for people to change things, there would be no need for propaganda. And a lot of our "leaders" obviously aren't very bright.Quoting: Purple Library GuyIn general, the idea that just individually behaving well can create change is overblown. And in fact, it has often been pushed by large corporations precisely because they are aware it will not work; so they invented individual "carbon footprints" to divert people's attention away from regulation or creation of different infrastructure, emphasize recycling plastic so people won't think about mandating alternatives to plastic, and in general emphasize individual action as consumers so people won't think about political action as citizens.People shouldn't lean too far in the other direction either, though. Some people think we cannot do anything because The Markets or The System... In the end, it all consists of humans. Though some way more powerful than others, obviously.

Quoting: GuestThe early internet was a very strong bastion of the idea that independent individual choices all by themselves could create and defend an excellent space, albeit based on the idea that the very design of the internet itself gave great power to that ideal. That turned out not to be the case; the internet now is dominated by a few small players, and content is dominated by push (by those dominant players and their algorithms) rather than pull from individual internet denizens. Pull hasn't disappeared, but its impact has shrunk a great deal, and it gets shaped a whole lot. The final user has turned out not to have that much power compared to the corporate dollar.Quoting: Purple Library GuyWhy just the internet.Quoting: GuestI strongly trust in the power of the final userOh, hey everyone, a time traveller from the early internet!
"Be the change you want to see in the world", altough not the exact words, the base concept stays still.

And sound tracks don't count either, because they are something you buy if you want to listen to it outside the game--in the game, it's already playing.
So we're left with the two actual paid DLCs that do something in game. That's not a lot even if they weren't amazingly optional.

Quoting: benstor214I’m really torn about it.I don't think free DLCs count. I mean, the idea behind complaining about DLCs is that although you think you bought a game, in order to get the game to work well and give you good content you have to spend a bunch more money on extra bits. If it's free, that concept is not applicable.
First the facts: There are 5 DLCs. 2 free and 3 paid.
- a story/art book
- 4K texture pack
- a soundtrack (paid)
- an avatar asset flip, anime version (paid)
- another avatar asset flip, furry version (paid)
Personally, I don’t consider 5 DLCs as ‘spamming’

I don't wish to win one because I already bought it. I like it, at a sort of instinctive level (the big guy's so cute!), but before I dip into it again I think I'll wait for that improved villager AI. Gets frustrating when they just flat out refuse to build the thing I've made a massive priority because it seriously needs to get built.
