Quoting: mr-victoryIf I knew nothing about these things, which I don't, I'd say the picture is a rather elaborate way of saying "This Way Up" :grin:Quoting: jordicomaIt has M key support and not M key support. On bottom left picture, there is a long connector on the left and a short one on the right. On bottom right it is opposite.
So some M key work and the others not?

Quoting: chrisqIs that, like, gaming while you parachute down to the backcountry virgin powder ski run? Dodge through bullet hell as your skis hit the ground and you zoom ahead ditching the parachute, fight the last boss as the avalanche starts and you slalom down the uneven slope inches ahead of it!Support M.2 interface SSD hard drive, and data transfer up to 900MB/S, allowing you to enjoy a more extreme Steam Deck gaming experience.Wow, it enables extreme gaming!

And as Scaine said there's one you can aim, but when it first comes up they give you a couple of options how to handle it and I just set it to auto-aim at some nearby enemy so I wouldn't have to worry about it. And that's like one weapon out of . . . lots. Many runs you won't even get that one.

Quoting: slaapliedjeOnly one I've played so Far is Spellbook Demonslayers. And its weapons go in various directions. There is one that fires in front of you, but there's one that fires in a rotating arc, one that fires to left and right, one that fires on all four diagonals, several that make rains of (fire, lightning, toxic icicles) hitting random enemies, one that makes patches of zap that sort of wander around near you, usually crawling towards nearby enemies, a couple that just do multiple homing bullets, and one that actually fires in an arc behind you. So there's no real bias to forward-facing shots.Quoting: anewsonI kind of think of it as 'Flick-Stick' shooter, as you run around and your main weapon tends to only work toward the facing of your character, so you have to flick behind occasionally to whack the things chasing you. Also it rhymes :grin:Quoting: scaineBoth Spellbook Demonslayers and Nomad Survival allow for second-stick aiming, but there's only a tiny handful of weapons where that's an issue, since most weapons are auto-target, or AOE around you, or a random spot. Some always target in front, or behind, so the aiming weapons occasionally give you some tactical advantages.I agree, a lot of comments are focusing on the autofiring mechanic to more strongly differentiate from twin stick shooters (eg the people mentioning Robotron). But besides the two you mentioned, 20 Minutes till Dawn is very much twin-stick, and Soulstone Survivors has characters with twin-stick attacks, so I focus more on the other differentiating factors (eg, the roguelike influence). I do like "Single-stick shooter" as a genre descriptor though.
To that end, I still think the fourth criteria that really matters is the auto-shoot mechanic.

Quoting: PhiladelphusI guess my point is that motes and gasses make just as little sense for lithoids if you think about it. Rare crystals, sure. But why are my rocky pops putting out gasses?I guess they're volcanic

Quoting: sprocketWhat specifically separates Horde Games from the more traditional Twin Stick Shooter? For one thing, most of 'em don't feature much shooting. You move your character around trying to avoid the enemies homing in on you, while your attack abilities fire off by themselves.

Quoting: PhiladelphusI'm mildly disappointed at the asymmetry of Inorganic Breath giving you exotic gasses without accompanying traits that give volatile motes and rare crystals, like lithoids get.I dunno. Motes and crystals wouldn't really go with the theme so much. The point is, these critters, being toxic, are emitting dangerous gases, whether via flatulence or belching or really bad BO.

Huh. That's a bit different. I mean, most of the categories up to now have been basically the classics--infinite variations available, but you know, the rock people expansion gave you countless flavours of MOO II Silicoids, and so on. But I haven't really seen this type in other games in the genre.

Well, expensive international shipping is nothing new in the world. Goes back millennia, I expect. "I ordered a nifty painted screen from Cathay, they said to allow 10 years for shipping over the Silk Road. But the shipping charge was 300 ducats!" "God's teeth, you could buy a villa for that!"
I myself just recently ordered a nifty large size map of Middle Earth, the classic one done by Pauline Baynes back in the day. Well, it's coming from Oxford and I'm in Canada. Price of the map, £62. Shipping, £57!

Well, of course it's relaxing. Pachelbel's Canon will do that. With that as the background music you could probably have a calm, relaxing game of Spiderman.
