I love both, Gaming on Linux and Aspyr. The former because it's a great resource and hub for my gaming needs on my favorite platform, the latter because they do awesome ports of gorgeous games that would be bound to the dark lords of redmond (;)) otherwise.
Now I really hope I win, as this would be an awesome birthday present for myself, but then again I also wish everyone else here the best of luck!

Aspyr Media Plans More Linux Games In The Next 6 Months UPDATED

Sure I hope that one day I could game along like I used to in the olden days, when everything was dark and I had to pay my bills to the (potentially evil) Lord(s) of Redmond.
But to me I totally understand if they don't push that hard. Feral only ports games and of course they need to have some kind of income. I mean, if there is no market for certain games or it simply doesn't pay of for them I do understand there is no real push from their side.
These are a lots of "ifs", but (sadly) we live in a really money centered world and I guess they have their reasons ;)

Quoting: SslaxxYes, they did a good job on XCOM, but their attitude as a whole seems to be of vague disinterest (remember the coming games radar?).Personally I don't care about their interest as long as the ports they actually do are awesome. :)

Quoting: SslaxxI'm not particularly keen on Feral's attitude towards Linux ports so far, so I'm not going to hold my breath for them to be releasing very much if anything in future.Feral's XCOM port was absolutely amazing!
Hey, if Aspyr wants Linux money and Feral doesn't, then Aspyr gets money.

The DI devs are from poland and they are either on a party or in bed I guess ;)
When you mean "hours ago", it will probably have been to late for them to do anything.

Nvidia GPU-Accelerated PhysX Now Available On Linux

Not going to try out a nvidia on my main gaming righ tho ;)

Quoting: sevI do not need all the ssoftware on my Linux rig to be free, especially in gaming. If NVidia wants to keep PhysX and their drivers closed source, so be it, as long as they continue to support Linux...which so far they have done fairly well (better than AMD/ATI anyway). So I'm happy about this news.I wonder how anything could run better than the open source amd drivers on my archlinux system.
Not going to try out a nvidia on my main gaming righ tho ;)

Could we stop arguing about personal (!) preferences and opinions and "what ifs"? We will see how it will turn out eventually, no need to use your crystal balls :p
I, for one, do dislike DRM. The only of my hobbies I accept DRM actually is gaming and the only drm-platform I allow is Steam as I never had a single complaint with it.
Still I buy my games on GOG and in the Humble Shop as well and in Desura and if Galaxy launches I will try it out.
I've never been a loyal customer, and why should I? I earn my money hard!

Loved NS2, but the Linux "port" is crap on my setup. This is one of the few games I really miss that don't run, no matter how hard I try. Well, once it ran, but since the community took over development I can't get it to run anymore.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel opens up for pre-orders and aims for a same-day Linux release!

Plus: I don't want to wait on nvidia to release compatible drivers if I update my kernel or x.org. Well, these are problems you only face with a rolling release distro, I guess :D
edit: I even thought about getting a nvidia card for physx alone a few months back, but now that nvidia changed this as well, it wouldn't work anymore -.-

Quoting: EKRboiI'm glad you can enjoy it, I really am. Still I hope nvidia learns their lesson and goes open or dies. Personally I can't justify to buy a nvidia card. Apart from the fact that I'm quite content with my AMD card and mesa, I simply don't want to use closed source software if I can avoid it.Quoting: SeredLet's hope PhysX dies soon. It's annoying how nvidia promised that it would run on cpus and AMD is always blamed, when nvidia bought the company behind physx and closed it up like it did with everything. :(LOL, I figured someone would hate on it. The hate is justified and I mostly agree, but I am glad that I have nvidia hardware for games that do use it. Especially the borderlands franchise, hate it or not BL does an amazing job of utilizing it and after playing 133 hours with it and then not having advanced physx in the linux port sucks a lot.
