Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney throws shade at Valve / Gabe Newell for Steam Deck pricing
31 May 2026 at 10:39 am UTC

Quoting: SakuretsuWhy is that even treated as actual news?
It's just Tim Swine being a pathetic attention seeker because his games store can't hold a candle to Steam.
Er. I feel better reading that more people share my opinion about him.

Flathub moves to ban nearly all apps and submissions made with generative AI
31 May 2026 at 10:33 am UTC

Good. All this vibe coded crap is almost always "I don't know a thing about already existing apps for a problem I encountered during my first week trying it out, so I quickly vibe coded something!" anyways. They don't bring anything new to the table. Just worse versions of what's already possible. Bad copy cats.

Linux head says "AI tools are great" but they're making the security list "almost entirely unmanageable"

Quoting: Savor592But in general they produced not a single thing that wasn't already possible before.
Neuronal networks actually can do useful things we could not do before. But most of them do not even require a data center to be trained or executed on: Little models doing one thing, but doing it better than everything else. The industry just chose the worst way possible to deal with and many normal people joining this destruction train.
Yeah. Some AI in the hands of some expert which actually know what they are doing I would be fine with. But nowadays thanks to the sloppifying I am basically allergic the moment I read "AI".

I mean can't even enjoy a random gif online anymore, because all the time I must think: "Maybe it was made with AI. Then it's not impressive anymore!"

Just wish more people would stop using it.

Steam Deck stock returns but there's a big price increase

Quoting: KimyrielleRAM prices do seem to come down, so maybe next year we will see some resemblance of normalcy. In the meantime I just hope none of family's Decks will break.
Now here is the next problem: You expect the world to be full of good people! If the prices come down again is solely a matter of if they are selling less now.

Because if those companies notice that they can get the parts cheaper next year, but didn't see less money after increasing the prices ... you can be sure as hell they will just pocket that extra money instead of lowering prices again.

AI doing AI things. I swear: The only thing they managed is increasing the amount of crap going around, as it's easier to produce now. Maybe some developers can use them to a degree to get rid off some mindless writing tasks. But in general they produced not a single thing that wasn't already possible before.

Sony to no longer bring PlayStation narrative single-player games to PC

Vegeta, what does the scouter say about the price of the PS6?

So: In the mind of Sony CEOs we are going to buy another PC with limited functionality for the same price as a normal PC only to play some games they artificially gated to only run on that limited PC?

Hahahahahahahaha!

Oh wait. They are serious? Let me laugh even louder!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic boss thinks AI is "creatively soulless"

Quoting: pbYou and all of the people who have a sense of aesthetics, Mr Hudson.
Now don't be so harsh. I have no sense of aesthetics whatsoever and still wish GenAI would just vanish from reality as I can't stand the crap made with it.

Finally we can give lazy and talentless people money for generic and thoughtless AI slop games! How long have I waited for this day!

What if I want to use my device offline? Never connect it to the internet. Old game consoles?

Just this single requirement has already so many problems attached to it.

How to setup OpenMW for modern Morrowind on Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck
10 Apr 2026 at 1:32 pm UTC

I would welcome a post (or an edit) introducing https://modding-openmw.com/ [External Link] and especially showing a setup that works well on Steam Deck.

Their scripts make modding really easy. But unfortunately the Total Overhaul seems to be too much for the Deck. Would be nice to see a configuration close to it which can be run on the Deck.
