Red Awakening, A First Person Action/Horror Game May Be Coming To Linux
22 Nov 2014 at 10:40 am UTC

Quoting: StianTheDark*cough cough* Half Life 2 *cough cough*
If we're randomly citing existing single player first person shooters for linux then you missed Metro Last Light, Borderlands 2, Borderlands Pre Sequel etc.

I'm with Public Nuisance in wanting more single player FPS. We've played and replayed the few which are already available.

EDIT: Although I completely understand that other people would like to see some variety e.g. Racing games which are notably absent from linux.

Time To Guess What Feral Interactive Are Working On, New Teaser

Any hint that links to the feral radar is Mac only.
Right, I noted that earlier.

So we can assume that since that page was given as the second glue to the game that it's NOT a game they are porting to Linux, or it's a game they are also porting to Mac?

The second clue from twitter was:

"You thought we were done with clues for today? NOPE! A new signal has appeared on our Radar. Bleepity bleep bleep - http://www.feralinteractive.com/en/upcoming" [External Link];

A 'new' signal, and as I noted, the only new game is the one with the "owner of a lonely heart" hint.

In a mac gamers forum they are certain that "Pathetic earthlings" was Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising because the image that was shown alongside is a screenshot from that game. I don't see how the clue connects, and besides OPF: DR is a lousy unofficial cash-in on the name by the publishers, I'm a huge Bohemia Interactive fan (original OPF) and would kill to see their true sequels (ARMA 1,2,3) available on linux.

Just to follow up to my earlier ramblings, I just noticed that there's a LEGO Hobbit game and Feral just released the LEGO Batman game. Coincidence ?

Yes, it probably is. You can find just about any answer you want in the clues given so far.

Edit: The song, "Owner of a lonely heart" has the line "The eagle in the sky" which could be another Hobbit reference if you are looking for 'Hobbit' clues.

Their facebook post contains an interesting choice of words: "We like to occasionally share treats among our various social media channels, so we invite you to join our tumblr followers in biting into a clue for a very tasty project we’re working on…"

"Tasty", "biting"? I'm completely lost ...

Apparently a new clue - http://www.feralinteractive.com/en/upcoming [External Link]

One of those games is the game related to the King Penguin clue.

From googling it seems the 'new' game is the one with the clue "Owner of a lonely heart" with a picture of Barrels. All the others are mentioned in the Feral forums from earlier this year (one from two years ago!).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owner_of_a_Lonely_Heart [External Link]

So we have KING penguin, OWNER of a LONELY heart and BARRELS. Strangely enough, that could be a reference to the Hobbit trilogy, Thoran Oakenshield, king of the dwarves lived under the Lonely mountain and the book features the characters riding down the river in barrels. However I think that's just a coincidence.

Oh, they also stated in this latest clue that it's an upcoming Mac game, no mention of linux. So perhaps we jumped to conclusions when they posted a picture of a penguin?

Any games set in that part of the world? I must admit my first association with Patagonia was more literal, one of the Tomb Raiders say in that region (or nearby), but the last game was set near Japan and the one before that in Mesoamerica a thousand miles away.

There's a linux petition on Marmalade's website which could use a few more signatures.
