Death Stranding Director's Cut has an annoying issue that can reboot your Steam Deck

Quoting: IM0001While I saw the "Fix" Listed in the 3.4 Steam OS update, It doesn't seem to have fixed the issue from my testing.

I am using the Epic version using Heroic Launcher to install. And tested base Death Stranding and the Directors Cut.
Also tested with different versions of Proton. 7.0-4 (default that worked in the past I believe), Experimental set to the Bleeding Edge Beta channel in Steam, and GE Proton 7-43.

Also tested on Stable OS Branch 3.4.4 as well as Main Update 3.5 with no change.

The game looks and runs fantastic, but you cannot touch that right stick with the map up or it instantly crashes the video driver and freezes the game. After a few taps of the Steam button it will finally reboot Steam and you're back to square one.

Can anyone else confirm/test with the Steam version of the game to see if the fix is somehow linked to being installed through Steam vs Epic? I just owned the game over a year ago on Epic and was able to play it just fine months ago until the bug appeared and it's been broken ever since.
Heroic via Flatpak will use a different Mesa version from the Flatpak runtime, which doesn't have the fix yet.

Quoting: DanielDC88Hi Liam,

I’m still getting this issue on the epic version of the game, launched via heroic games launcher. Do I need to switch the proton version being used to take advantage of the fix?
It was a graphics driver fix not a Proton fix, so the fix is in the latest SteamOS.

The right column (balance) seems to be locked to pound sterling.
Well yes obviously. The point is nothing they say matches up.

Update 02/01/2023: YouTube denied the request to have it put back, so my video is staying blocked in the UK. The story on this store only gets weirder too and more suspect. In an email to me, the store claimed they purchased Steam Decks with local Gift Cards but on their own Reddit account they linked to screenshots (#1 [External Link], #2 [External Link] of their Steam purchase history showing they actually buy a bunch of USD gifts. According to Valve's [External Link] own details, accounts are supposed to be locked to the local currency.

The website in question agreed to remove the hit on the video in the UK. So waiting on YouTube restoring it now.

Please note: store wars are not allowed here. I'm keeping the comments up this time, so people are again aware. It is however against our rules to do these drive-by "i'm not interested" comments. It's annoying. No one needs to know you won't buy at a particular store, next time just scroll by. It doesn't add to any healthy discussion.

Update 31/12/2022: the steamdeck . info store sent a defamation complaint to YouTube, so my video on it is currently blocked in the UK. I am currently fighting to get it restored.

Quoting: KlaasHas there been any kind of explanation from JSAUX regarding the lost/leaked email addresses?
Nope. After pointing out all my concerns, they stopped replying to me. They only replied to me on this today because of the very publicly clear scam and they simply removed their retweet and haven't publicly said anything on it since - not a good look just hiding away from it, not even a simple "thanks for telling us we partnered with a scam site".

Steam Deck OS (SteamOS)
Lemme guess: Liam is testing full fat SteamOS now...
I wish. It’s more keeping in line with Valve’s own wording. They moved over to calling it Steam Deck OS, I assume because when SteamOS releases it won’t be exactly the same.

The Steam Deck really doesn't need exclusives

Quoting: zgilletWhile not exclusive to the Deck, Steam itself has over 30,000 exclusive games. Albeit, many of them are complete trash, but still.

This cane up repeatedly in the YouTube comments. There’s a difference between exclusive (forcefully locked) and just not available elsewhere which there can be a great many reasons why.
