NetherWorld, an impressive looking and weird narrative pixel-art action game is coming to Linux

Quoting: aFoxNamedMorrisNot a fan of the "pixels" rotating at impossible angles... really breaks the "retro" look.
Well pixel art isn't always retro remember. It's a style some games just go for and it can look incredible when done well.

Quoting: GuestI tried blocking the visual novel tag on Steam, must I now try this on GOL? :|
Other than GOG being Linux hostile, visual novels are absolute shite. Hope they paid enough to make the shame bearable.
GOG are not hostile to Linux, just because their client is not on Linux doesn't make them "hostile".

As for pay, nothing to do with it nor was I asked to do this - GOG's Linux team just send keys out of the blue to me with no stipulations. I try to mention all types of games and genres to cover as many types of gamers as possible, all are welcome here.

I wonder if it also fixed Devil Daggers on 18.04 because if I remember correctly it's because the libcurl version was different that it didn't work anymore .
Didn't work for me on Ubuntu 19.04.

Quoting: liamdaweYeah, it might seem like SteamOS/Steam Machine don't see a lot of attention, but as always when you look at all the work they're actually doing to improve everything relating to Steam/Linux gaming there's a lot going on.
This seems as good a time as any to mention this comment thread [External Link], which genuinely surprised me. (You might have noticed some incoming clicks, actually. Not my doing. :) For some reason, I never comment over there.) There's the odd naysayer, as always, but for the first time I can remember on any general PC gaming site, they're in the minority. This stuff is beginning to get noticed outside our Linux-fanatic bubble. Shamus talks a little about it at the beginning of his latest podcast [External Link].
It shouldn't surprise me but it still does, how bad a tunnel-vision a lot of "tech" podcasts and websites just count out Linux instantly without basic research.

Quoting: gradyvuckovicFor Linux (& Mac) gamers, that would mean all those games currently not playable on Linux, the 40% or so of Steam that isn't quite there yet with Proton, would suddenly immediately become playable via an alternative solution, ie: streaming from a Valve server. Effectively bringing all Steam games to Linux.
The Valve servers would have to run on Windows, though and I highly doubt Valve would want to pay for those licenses.
Valve could limit the feature to just what they call "SteamOS + Linux" initially. Which would really give a huge incentive for developers to support Linux. They could also include with Steamworks an API for telling games when they are launching in Streaming mode in the same way they have an API right now for telling developers when Steam is in Big Picture mode. So developers know to launch in fullscreen and stay in that mode for the best possible streaming experience. There could be even a flag for knowing what kind of device is being streamed to, like PC/Mobile, to present different UI options.
That would certainly give Linux a push. Valve saying "want your games to work the best on it? Port it"

Quoting: NanobangFree to play? Any word on what model of ftp they're going to do? Also, this project doesn't have the word "roguelike" written anywhere, does it? It looks fun, that's for sure.
Added to the article to be clear:
With their eventual free to play release, those concerned about any pay to win shenanigans should be able to rest easy. They said "We assure you: everything can be earned by playing the game, and you will never be stuck behind a pay-wall; this we can guarantee.".
They do have a rogue-like tag on Steam, but it's not clear in what way that's meant.

No they wouldn't, not with Steam Play once it's mature enough.

Quoting: gradyvuckovicI'm calling it, this is what Valve is working towards. Valve is going to make it happen.
I've said before I expect Valve to eventually do a streaming service, everything still points towards them making it happen in smaller stages like this.

Quoting: PeciskHaving prepared downloadable shaders was one of Vulkan promises and tbh I am really excited to see delivery on that. We can speculate how serious Valve is about SteamOS, but they seem to be working in right direction nevertheless.
