Quoting: kuhpunktNitpicky correction: the Ping tool was invented by the folks at Valve for Portal 2. Apex Legends copied it :PI am aware it's in there, the point is how such a system was never widely used and suddenly Apex Legends had it (and it looked really well done), then suddenly Fortnite added it in and now Danger Zone too.

Quoting: callciferIt is juvenile, pathetic and does NOT help attract developers to our platform at all. I personally know multiple developers who decided against a Linux version of their games because they saw how the "community" behaved on other games. You're making it sound like only the Linux community gets heated. That's very disingenuous and you know it.
Quoting: callciferBut again, what do I know, I just work in this industry. So you keep saying but without something to show for it, all people will think is you're another armchair expert trying to make themselves sound important. Stop doing it. I'm not trying to be horrible here, seriously, but it's very annoying when people use a line like this, repeatedly, like their opinion is more important than others.

Quoting: callciferWhy wouldn't it be probable? Epic have no plans for Linux support of their Store, Epic's CEO very clearly doesn't care given all the repeating statements against supporting Linux and the list goes on. Now they've been acquired by Epic and months later a game developer has said they're pausing Linux support. If you think that it's improbable, fair enough. However, what's first to go when a company is cost cutting - the one not used a lot - Linux.Quoting: liamdaweYou're misinterpreting my intentions. I did not deliberately try to stir anything up, stop acting like I am. It is interesting and on-point that Epic Games acquired them. Not long after, we now find this out. It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to say they're related, in fact I still think it's quite possible hence me mentioning it.If you honestly, truly believe that this conspiracy theory is not only possible, but probable, then I've seriously misjudged you. Oh well...

There's a difference between having an opinion, matching a few things up and mentioning it - to intentionally starting a witch hunt (something I absolutely don't want). However, I'm also not afraid to give my opinion on my own website.

As you said, it was a single line and I was very clearly speculating. Irresponsible? You deliberately fanned the flames despite having no evidence whatsoever, surely it's no surprise to you that people picked up on it?

Quoting: callciferIt's really funny how everyone already grabbed their pitchforks against Epic despite the whole connection being limited to a single line of unsubstantiated, irresponsible speculation by Liam.Ouch, sounds like I hit a nerve there. Don't blame me for others behaviour, that's ridiculous. As you said, it was a single line and I was very clearly speculating. Irresponsible? I will argue against that, considering Epic's recent behaviour and attitude towards Linux.
No wonder why some companies aren't willing to engage with such a level-headed, well-mannered crowd...

Quoting: RosieCodeBy now, I would hope people would have a little decorum and not get pitchforks out against people, as it doesn't help us.Quoting: liamdawewhile i would like to agree, i cant say with recent events i can trust anything they say. but i would rather have all the information available before i start jumping down the necks of people with pitchforks and torchesQuoting: RosieCodecan i first of just say that nothing is confirmed, and that its FP that has said this and i cant say they have much in the way of credibility recently. There no reason to think a game developer, one so well known, would lie about this.
Quoting: GuestOf course, contacting EAC was the first thing I did and I will let everyone know if/when I get a reply.Quoting: liamdaweAll the same, please let us know if you hear anything more to confirm it. To be honest, considering the reputation of FP, I wondered if, while not a lie, it might have been something misinterpreted or exaggerated.Quoting: RosieCodecan i first of just say that nothing is confirmed, and that its FP that has said this and i cant say they have much in the way of credibility recently. There's no reason to think a game developer, one so well known, would lie about this.
Frustrating that there's so little official word from the horse's mouth to make sure of where everything stands (a circumstance that's intentional, no doubt).

Quoting: TriasSo, do I understand correctly that we need a 418.52.05-beta driver, and those on 418.56 need to wait a bit despite having a higher version number? Maybe it's good to mention this in the article...I already mentioned the exact driver number required, as listed in the changelog.
