Rocket League thoughts on Linux, initial port report, it’s also 25% off right now

Quoting: skinnyrafSo if I buy it now on Linux, opt into beta and play on Linux, it will get counted as a Linux purchase?
Any game that has a Linux version on Steam will count as a Linux purchase, no need to look into it any other way. If it has Linux, it can and will be tracked.

Be sure to add me to Steam if you want to play together either today, tonight for the livestream or another day.

Quoting: WorMzyI do like that the price for the SteamOS variant is much lower than the Windows one.
I think it's two hardware variants.
Yes it's that, they haven't announced prices with Windows at all as it will be a stretch goal as noted.

Quoting: cprnHahahahahaha! Liam, the person you've reached - was that Robert Malinowski? :D I kinda know the guy. He has no say about Linux release, it's way above his pay grade. But reading into Polish mentality, this just probably meant there's no official decision, he doesn't know about any unofficial plans and currently the work on the subject stopped. I happen to know they're currently focusing on some card game promo so I wouldn't count on any other answer.
Yeah hilarious I spoke to their official rep.

It does beg the question though: why reply at all when you're essentially saying nothing?
Because not replying is rude. And if they can't give you an answer (for whatever reason), it's better to confirm that they have nothing to say "at this point" instead of ignoring.
It's only rude if you know for absolute sure you are being ignored intentionally. There's many reasons why emails can go unanswered.

In addition, you may think it is rude, but it's business. They don't have to give a reply to me or anyone technically when personally emailed, it's their choice.

Quoting: JudasIscariotThere are prompts for the keyboard as I watched one of our testers test the game. Perhaps the keyboard prompts are missing in the Linux version, then?

I wouldn't know as I've only played the game with a controller :)
It seems going by the Steam forum at least, that a lot of people are having issues with the Keyboard and getting into games using it.

On the character pick screen, the only thing it gives me is "O" for going back, example: http://imgur.com/a/oevvj [External Link]

Quoting: HoriOn Arch Linux there was a special file that had to be created to make the wireless mode work at all (with or without Steam open), it was a udev rule file. You can find it on Arch Wiki on the "Gamepad" page, it may help you on Ubuntu as well... it's worth a shot :)
Blessings of Tux the Mighty be upon you for sharing this!! I haven't checked if it works yet on my Ubuntu rig yet, but just havng someone confirm that it is possible warrants dancing in a circle singing, "Yeah!! Yeah!! Uh-Huh!! Linux rocks!! Oh Yeah!!" Or similar.

I can't believe Ubuntuneans haven't been more aggressively working on a fix for this. Or that I've not been able to come across said aggression if they have.
Huh? I wrote about that specfici issue on Ubuntu ages ago: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/steam-controller-on-ubuntu-a-tweak-you-need-to-do.6081

They fixed it ages ago, the problem is now it seems a firmware update has messed with the wireless dongle.
