Thanks! You are destroying me in the comments with all those well-documented facts 🥲
I am basically a human-book of Linux gaming history at this point.

Do we know an example of a game with a native build & official anti-cheat support (BattlEye, EAC) that has dropped Linux support because of cheaters? Lol.
Rust.
That was fast 😭😂. Although I thought Rust did that because of low (percentage) numbers of Linux players.

I am very sorry(...)
Sorry enough to release an official native Linux client with official anti-cheat support? :woot:

Quoting: ExpandingManI'm pretty happy with this game at 1.0. I want to show particular appreciation for the dedicated offline mode, it's glorious. Screw you blizzard.
how did you get full offline mode to work? I've been trying this morning, but every time I try to play, when I click "enter game" it just dumps me back to the main menu.
For me on the main menu there's a clear button to go into offline play.

World of Goo 2 launches in May on the Epic Store - but Linux support from their website

Once again, scraps, let's take off the rose-tinted glasses for a bit. Pre-HIB era we had hardly anything. I think some of you really have this weird and confusing nostalgia about how things were. I've been here since long before and it was not good. You had a hard time finding anything, most weren't supported at all, and while we had a few indie games they were tiny.

Given your previous posts, you just seem to be anti-Proton / Wine, which in 2024 I just find hilarious tbh. It's a button click to play stuff now, pretty much anything as long as it doesn't have anti-cheat. Proton is easy and it works well.

Quoting: gbudnyNo. We had the big titles on Linux and many indie games before HIB. Unfortunately, Linux users didn't have one or two online stores where you could buy most of these games. It was too fragmented for average users.
What's with trying to rewrite history? We definitely didn't get big stuff before the Humble Indie Bundle. We had scraps. Loki and then LGP died long before and neither actually did many ports. We had a few random indie games, and the usual open source stuff.

Quoting: PyreticThis is, without a doubt, the weirdest way to provide Linux support... But I'm glad they thought of us???
Well, if you take an Epic Exclusive deal you can't put it on other stores but they do allow you to still sell it direct. So it was their only choice. As a smaller outfit, the epic exclusive money no doubt helped development.

Quoting: RaymondTerrific Unpopular opinion: I beg of you stop saying “formally twitter”, it’s so cringe.
Like or not, X is what it’s called now but it’s not recognisable or clear and just calling it Twitter would be factually wrong. So I will continue to make it clear to readers.

No Man's Sky Omega Update arrives with a Free Weekend and lots new

Quoting: wvstolzingSo this is probably called 'Omega', due to the final 'choice in the Atlas Path Mission' that they say they've added -- though I wonder if it's also the final update for the game itself.
1:17 in the trailer, top left corner, "More Will Follow".

Quoting: CybolicWell, I'm glad the choice is here, but I'm already soured on the game from its DRM introduction.

Has anyone here played it; is it any good? Watching that trailer got my hopes slightly up from the Paul Verhooven-ish "Are We The Baddies" intro, but the rest of the gameplay seems to completely drop that tone, so it looks like just another bro-shooter. Is there more to it?
I'll likely have my own write-up on some thoughts next week. But so far: it's fantastic (Desktop Linux), having a huge amount of fun with it.
