Quoting: LinasWell, this is a clear-cut case of copyright infringement. Valve just did what any sane company would have done.Indeed. Apex Legends was based on Source Engine. So let's dump it into s&box and see what happens yeah? Similar story. People just seem to think because s&box is originally based on Source 2, that they can use any Valve stuff and call it a "mod". This is not how the world works, and it's been a real shame to see some prominent industry names have no understanding of this at all.

Updated with AYANEO statement, it's HoloISO, not partnership with Valve.

It always strikes me as odd whenever there’s a monster catcher, people immediately wonder about Nintendo. You can’t own the entire concept. This comes up every time. Unless they literally rip Pokemon directly, it’s just another game.

Updated article to note the AYANEO OS previous plan, and that I've reached out to both AYANEO and Valve.

OpenAI say it would be 'impossible' to train AI without pinching copyrighted works

Quoting: SalvatosWorking in translation, another worrisome trend I’ve noticed is content farms not just using AI to write articles, but to translate them, so we’re seeing tons of poorly translated content filling up search engine results in content farms with country-specific domains (e.g. "english-sounding-name.fr"). Logically, the AI is going to continue to get trained on junk content that it (or another AI) wrote or translated itself and perpetuate, if not amplify, the errors in it by seeing them as commonly used. A race to the bottom indeed.Duolingo recently [External Link] did this. Translations now by AI, with only a few checking them over. Expect more of this sort of thing over time.
Cross-distribution support improvements coming for Canonical's Snap packages

Quoting: BoldosOh I am aware of how different they are, but this article wasn't a place to dive into the deep mechanics of them :PQuoting: Liam DaweThey give a nice interface and a way to grab them, but they're still dependent on whatever packaging system they have linked in behind themJust a small side note (and apologies for being a techgrammarnazi:tongue:):
Snap and flatpack are not just packaging mechanisms, but these are rather app containerization techs. And this makes them a bit different from rpm/deb/aur/whichever older packaging system.

Quoting: CatKillerThe store apps do not solve this though. They give a nice interface and a way to grab them, but they're still dependent on whatever packaging system they have linked in behind them. Some distros don't have Flatpak at all, some need it manually enabled, some have Snap, some don't have Snap, some have neither and only use deb/rpm etc. It's not even remotely solved yet.Still, it would be nice no matter what distribution of Linux you pick, if we can just tell people to "go here" to get whatever app it is they're after rather than having to do a support-dance to find out their specific distribution and version to see what's available to find out how they can grab something. We already can. The "app store" interfaces like Discover don't care if you're on a distro that uses debs, rpms, or whatever, or if you're pulling snaps from snapcraft or flatpaks from flathub; they'll just present a list of applications and an install button. Packaging formats are only of interest to distro maintainers and angry people on the Internet - end users have no reason to care.

Quoting: MicHaeL_MonStaRDoes "Fixed Starfield not saving photos in photo mode." refer to the fact that it didn't save the photos in-game?Yes it means in-game. It was fixed in Proton Experimental, which changes often, this is specifically for Proton 8.
In which case, I don't understand, because while that was indeed an issue, somehow it resolved after a month or something, I think with patches for the game. - Perhaps it didn't work for all distros or devices or something, I don't know.
