So in my opinion it's good to write an article about a new game, share one's first impressions, give some opinion, but to center the article around the fact that a dev left the first review? Not really.

As pointed out, the guy isn't even a developer, he's nothing to do with it other than doing a little bit of testing before release.

Yes, reviews do tend to level out after a few, but that's not the point.

We always point out when people do shady/stupid things, we always have, and always will. These are my first impressions, the first impression I got was someone claiming they are a developer writing up a completely bogus review.

You say childish, I say cautious. If people are going to buy something, they need to know it's a legit game and not some hunk of junk with developers fudging reviews. It's quite important.

It's a major issue affecting a lot of people. Not everyone will see the email, and we would rather be safe than sorry, and it's a good reminder for people.
