Indeed @pmk1c, the Dying Light port has put things firmly into perspective for me, wrappers aren't bad by default, and Virtual Programming are now starting to really prove themselves.
Considering how terrible Dying Light is...well now, things are a bit different around here.

I warned people in the last article, and it's doing my head in. Cut the crap with nvidia vs amd talk, use the forum if you wish to do that. I will be removing nonsense amd vs nivida talk without warning.
It is also nothing to do with my specific card, as noted in the article many others also having the same issues.

Quoting: shigutsoBut... is the game playable with everything on Low quality settings? I really don't care about graphics. Gameplay for me is the most essential to work flawlessly. No, due to the other bugs, you cannot change weapons.

I do hope they fix the issues, as I really do wish to play the crap out of it, but until they work on performance it's not playable and we will not suggest people buy it.

Guys, can it with the whose company is better talk, further completely off topic comments arguing against nvidia/amd will be removed.
This is supposed to be happy news for us getting a major game release.
Behave yourselves.
The forum exists for the very reason of all other chat, use it.

A new OpenGL means nothing for developers using older versions, as their games will still work fine, so there's no need to not do OpenGL. It will also be a very long time before we see OpenGL Next anyway.
Developers don't have to use newer OpenGL. Developers choose the version and features they use.

Quoting: ShmerlWrong.Quoting: GBeeThe reason I'm not keen on wrappers such as eON and Wine is because it harms the future of OpenGL.Not really. OpenGL is in the huge transition stage now. Next version of OpenGL will be completley different. So if you think about it, it makes sense for developers actually not to invest much effort into adding OpenGL support in their engines now until the next version will arrive, otherwise they'll be doing double work. Of course I'd like them to invest that effort if they have resources, but most don't have them. So practically speaking, until OpenGL-next will arrive things won't be moving much I feel.
