Feral Interactive will livestream DiRT Rally on March 1st

Are you seriously trying to tell me that the game will not be in a releasable state one day before its release?
Correct: devs can't always release a game the second it's playable. The process just isn't that simple. You're gonna have to trust us on that; we've been doing this for a while.

Quoting: TobiSGDIf it is good enough for streaming it is good enough for playing. They should just release it instead of baiting people that are waiting eagerly for the port.
Release dates are typically carved in stone and can not be moved easily. What do you think how many people are involved in this? This is not just Feral.

I enjoy Feral's streams and just like to watch them. It's cool to have a stream just one day before the release. This has become a nice tradition between Feral an the community.

Of course they could do without it, but who would benefit? The game would not appear a second earlier without the stream.
And here you can see the difficulties of marketing. I don't enjoy that at all, to me it looks more like "Look, we have this totally playable game here and show you us playing with it! How sad that we can't give it to you right now, you will only get it later, poor boy!".
It looks almost like they want to insult their customers.

Besides, one of the reasons why we do these streams is to show the game to Linux users who aren't yet sure if they want it themselves. I think it's pretty awesome that you're already keen to play it. Our job is already done. :D

@PixelPi @saildata Thanks very much!

Total War: SHOGUN 2 looks like it will be heading to Linux & SteamOS

Quoting: ZlopezSame with the DOW 2, I played all of the single campaings in all DOW 2 games on Linux, but I'm unable to find any multiplayer game. There were problem to find a game even on Windows a year ago. Now on Linux it is almost impossible.
Every Tuesday at 1PM UK time, Sam (from Feral) and Liam (from, well, here) get their Dawn of War II on. You should join them if you have time. Liam streams it and everything.

Quoting: chepatiA question for Feral: would it make sense if you did a poll once in a while to gauge interest in games? Give us a multiple-choice option so we can vote on which game we'd like to have you port. I know you want to build up hype for a game before its release and keep the mystery surrounding your releases, but readers on GOL could arguably be considered a good sample of the linux gaming demographic. So testing the waters before going full on into a game port would be good for everyone.
If interest alone was enough, you'd all be playing Skyrim right now. We can't really do a poll, because all the options would have to be games we are prepped to bring to Linux. And if we're prepped to bring them to Linux, we might as well bring you the whole lot.

But you're certainly making a good point, and I can confirm that we stalk the heck out of the Linux gaming community to gauge interest all the time. Whether it's polls, comments, likes, or whatever else, when we see demand for a game we sit up and take notice.

Feral Interactive will livestream HITMAN for Linux on Wednesday the day before release

You'll be able to play the single-player game offline. But there's plenty of online content too, like Elusive Targets. You'll get to enjoy all that too, just like the Windows lot.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiT@Feral: Will it be vulkan? Are there any vulkan ports to be announcet right now? :)
I asked on Facebook. They said its opengl. Vulkan is coming later in the year, it wasn't clear if they are planning Vulkan for an unreleased game or for titles like Hitman and Dues Ex that have a DX12 back end already.
They already confirmed last year that Deus Ex MD will be their first Vulkan title (that they will add Vulkan support for the game in Spring 2017).
To clarify, we haven't announced what our first Vulkan game will be, nor a timescale of spring. We're aiming to get a Vulkan game out in the first half of this year.

If you got Vulkan tangled up with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, that's because we talked about Vulkan during a Deus Ex: Mankind Divided live stream. Which was nice and confusing, woo.

EDIT: "HITMAN FOR MAC IS STANDING BY FOR METAL"

Metal becomes a running gag.
Mac users can upgrade their beautiful hardware with Linux. ;)
Behave yourselves. :P

Quoting: TobiSGDSo, if anyone from Feral reads this: does this need the same stupid SSSE3 support that Deus Ex needs?
Nope, DiRT Rally won't require SSSE3. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided needed SSE4.1, by the way.
Sorry, I understood the post in the Steam forums incorrectly. So, does that mean that it will work on Phenom II CPUs?
No probs. Phenom II CPUs won't be supported. So you can give it a go, but at your own risk!

Total War: WARHAMMER release date announced for Linux, Tuesday 22nd of November

Regarding multiplayer, Total War: WARHAMMER will be Linux vs Linux on release. Once the Mac version is out, we aim to get you playing against Mac users too like you can in Empire and Medieval II. :)

Quoting: cxphergmailcomIs Vulkan really coming for this game Feral?
Oh, I think people are understandably confused because we announced our Vulkan ambitions during a Deus Ex: Mankind Divided stream. We're looking towards Vulkan implementation in the first half of 2017, but Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is OpenGL. We'll let you know the moment we're ready to announce our first Vulkan game, whatever it may be. :]

Thanks for flagging this!
