Could gog.com be close to supporting Linux?

With less than 10 000 members in the Linux group in Steam, and less than 10 000 votes on the Linux request in GOG, I have to wonder where the millions of Linux users are, and if there even are several 10 000 Linux gamers.

Thanks for posting this, Liam. Much appreciated. I do hope GOG finally gets to it. Like many have said, GOG's ScummVM and DOSBox games would run with little effort and then there are those games with native Linux versions, some of which may need tweaking, but hey, the vast majority of the code is there. GOG can't keep saying no with Kickstarter, the Humble Bundle, Desura, and now Steam supporting Linux ever more.

Arakion RPG coming to Linux

Quoting: "Anon, post: 5624"But for some time, this will be the only thing. W2 and PE are not coming this year, W2 will be here around October next year and PE in 2014. It still will be awhile.
Are you saying that Arakion is coming out this year?

Arakion RPG coming to Linux

I am quite excited for this, especially as Legend of Grimrock hasn't made it to Linux yet. The developer did well in supporting Linux right from the start, unlike others. We Linux fans should reward him for this.

Linux overtakes Mac on Humble Indie Bundle 6!

Quoting: "Cheeseness, post: 5627, member: 122"GOG have an upcoming event where they will announce the support of additional "OSes" (plural). It's unclear whether Linux will be one of those (there's mention of MacOS and "consoles" in the news post about the event), so it wouldn't be a good idea to get your hopes up, but it's definitely worth keeping an eye to.

The numbers are still fluctuating (I'll give a summary in a couple of days when things are settled), but at this point, it looks like MacOS will finish up between $17k and $18k ahead of Linux in this bundle.
Yup, I saw, and I do hope it works out for the better, but GOG voiced their discomfort with supporting Linux several months ago so I too am not keeping my hopes high. I just wonder where all the millions of Linux fans are. Could use them to voice their support. Considering how Mac OS has a significantly higher market share according to many, I find that gap to be rather small, once again speaking for the support of Linux (and not at the detriment of Mac OS either; both should see more support).

I am a bit late to the party, but brilliant news indeed! It's a pity that GOG still won't support Linux despite all the money there is to bed made...

Project Eternity - Linux from the start!

Glad they chose to go down this path instead. Having Linux join in at 2.2 million US dollars when Mac OS is in at 1.6 million US dollars and Windows at 1.1 million US dollars just seemed ever so slightly off. Double of what Windows needs, and 600 000 US dollars more than what Mac OS needs? Really? I am constantly told that once a game is out for Mac OS, the vast majority of the effort needed to put a game on Linux is already gone.

These indie games are winning me over rather quickly, and they mostly support Linux too. My wallet is ready. :)

Humble Bundle seeking Linux developers!

Guess the Humble Bundle has been quite happy with their success on Linux. Surely this can be used as ammo for even more support soon enough!
