Save this chart please, and look again on 11 february 2018.
URL chart windows (steam chart updated) [External Link]
Assuming that this February chart of all 12350 games on Steam is still current.
And the list of 3000 games for Linux is still current.
I did an average portability calculation.
If we continue with this progress of 500 games for every 6 months.
We will reach the value of 12350 in 9 years.
Of course the number and games for windows should also grow in proportion, but if we will reach the equivalent number of windows only time will tell.

I believe Valve is eating around the edges.
Focusing on ports with:
1st small developers;
2nd Distributors not so AAA that has accepted to outsource the port with the FERAL;
3rd To later focus on the most complicated distributors / developers that are Rockstar, Rocksteady, Warner Games, NetherRealm Studios, CAPCOM, KONAMI and SEGA;
4º Finally, the port of these here will have to be more POLITICAL than commercial. Like Bathesda / Zenimax, Ubisoft (UPLAY), EA (Origin), Blizzard (Battle.net). Some of them i imagine could be impossible to migrate to Linux or SteamOS, but worth trying.
I believe that some of them can join STEAMOS/Linux if it is clear that they will not be obliged to market the products within the STEAM platform
The Road of Gabe is too much dificult now...

2 Negligency of the valve in the steam support installer in version 16:10. Thousands of users have had to sue customers steam inaccessible. This in dependency problem

I use video card from AMD. And after upgrading to Ubuntu version 04.16 LTS no more proprietary drivers for this version.
It would only change the driver for the MESA opensource version (should be so) happens that many games can not be ok if behaving the opensource driver MESA. beeping whenever I'm not using the proprietary driver.
Another thing, in my case I have two plates of integrated videos (one for energy saving in the Intel case and one for video rendering if AMD) and Linux can not force the use of video rendering via AMD is not using AMD's proprietary software that forces the use of this. No support will this on Ubuntu.

We need to continue this petition and stay calm.
We should be friendly with the president of Blizzard (this is a matter of attitude and maturity).
