Quoting: bekoRule #1 when flying a Fighter/Corvette in Space Combat - if a Station or Ship is on the other side of the target, use guided weapons, reposition if possible, or hold fire until you have a clean shot..... Or let the ship/stations anti-figter weaponry deal with them.Quoting: TheSHEEEPDid you actually play the game?Is that a Who-Has-The-Longest-Carrier? Cuz I'm Split all the way down, baby :D
In something larger than the smallest ship?
Fun aside. Your itch has been scratched and I stand my point: Your positioning sucks. You play that long already? Well, mayhap you're doing it wrong for a long time then. Did you ever read any Sci-Fi featuring space battles? I'm delighted the way this is implemented. You pay for errors - ESPECIALLY with huge ships.

The game is already pretty fun in vanilla, but once you get used to it and start playing with the modes (like VRO), it becomes a whole other thing. If there is such a mod, I wasn't able to find it.
Just loads of threads of people asking for such a mod, people saying such a mod cannot be done, or people begging for an option to turn FF off entirely - which would make sense, honestly. Only the player would be able to abuse it and the player can already exploit and cheat like there's no tomorrow, so that is not a logical reason not to give people that option.

I assume they still haven't fixed the bug/idiotic design that shots which hit your allies turn them hostile towards you so that whenever you try to aid an ally you actually end up at war with them.

Quoting: BeamboomI wonder how long it will take for this one to reach Ubuntu 20.04 via their official PPA? As the current newest available driver is the 440.64. Very odd since Ubuntu 19.10 has the .82 for a long time already.I can't speak for Ubuntu's NVidia packages, but at least with Pop!_OS, they only support stable drivers. Beta drivers never get pushed to the Pop!_OS GFX ppa.

I'd love a copy as well. I had a ball with the beta version when he had that up on his discord.

Been playing a LOT of X4: Foundations + Split Vendetta with some X3: Albion Prelude mixed in. Brought a reminder of how much I enjoyed space sim and space combat sim games growing up. I've since installed FS2Open, X-Wing Alliance (+Mods), Elite: Dangerous, and Freelancer + mods. Worked on a Lutris installer for Freelancer + Discovery mod and am working on similar installers for FS2Open (using Knossos) and X-Wing Alliance + XWA Upgrade project (which is STILL being worked on 20 years after the game launched).

Quoting: RoosterFor me, actions speak louder than words. If they actually open source some of their most used applications, then I might raise an eyebrow, otherwise I'm past the point of caring. As someone that has worked in tech for 10 years and currently working for a company that is working through open sourcing an application, I can say that open sourcing something that was originally closed source isn't just as simple as "Here's the code". There are legal, political, and business ramifications that have to be worked through. Additionally, time has to be made to work through such things and MGMT/The Board are unlikely to allow revenue generating work to stop just to open source something.

Quoting: scaineI actually prefer Mint's approach of using an integrated Timeshift.I messed with Timeshift a bit, but had to abandon it since I didn't have enough storage space to actually use it. Since most of what I have is either pulled from soemthing like Steam (for games) or is stored on a Git server, I don't really get any benefit from Timeshift :(
Quoting: scaineI'm also surprised to hear you say that Cinnamon is buggy. Amazing that my experience can be so positive, while yours is negative (and vice versa for Gnome Shell).I should've clarified a bit here. Cinnamon is great..... if you're using Mint. Just like Pantheon + Elementary and Budgie + Solus. They all work with other distros, but were designed for the distro that created them and it shows. Try running cinnamon or pantheon in another distro and it will be a painful experience (at least when I've tried it). I have complaints about Pop as well, I'm just not ready to give up the QoL work that System76 has put in to go to something else.... yet
