The OpenGL Successor Is Due To Be Unveiled At GDC

Those are issues if we compare Linux and Windows. Gaming related third-party apps are issues too. Middle-ware... Bunch of issues...

We cant be ignorant, if we ignore problems they wont be fixed, they probably wont be fixed even when we dont ignore them.

Dying Light Released For Linux, Some Thoughts, You May Want To Wait

Added to wishlist, Ill buy it if they fix it so I will be able to get 60+FPS avg. on minimal settings on my i7-3770k and GTX660Ti, or no buy.

Does anyone have some technical info about Chrome 6 engine, from Linux point of view? Like what OGL version do they use, do they use wrapers, translators etc?

All Unity 2D and 2.5D games run fine because they are simple, you can hardly ƒuck up something like Organ Trail (it is possible to made game like that by using SVG and JS). But when something more complex is made, Unity is terrible, even on Windows.

Other problem is that Windows developers dont understand how Linux works, they dont use ENV variables properly, they dont know how linking works, they are droping save and config files all over the place, they probably test their stuff on Noobuntu so there is posibility that their build will not work on other distributions because it depends on something Noobuntu specific. Possibilities are limitless!

I dont have anything against Ubuntu but it is worst possible distro to test, Ubuntu has all advance stuff turned ON (compositing, their WM etc.) so there is big possibility that game will behave differently on other distributions. Testing should be done on bare bones Linux install, all fancy stuff OFF and linked against Steam runtime libs.

Great idea for a game, played it a lot (Im Red Orchestra 1 fan), but very low performance on Linux, every second patch there is some kind of mouse problems. Graphic looks old (like in games from 4-5 years ago), but gameplay is great. Game runs pretty bad on Windows too. I did report some of the bugs, some are fixed, some cant be fixed because of Unity. Developers with great ideas why do you always chose worst game engines?!?!

Aspyr Media Are Close To Breaking Even On Linux Ports
18 Jan 2015 at 9:48 am UTC

They are hardly breaking even with good ports. Probably because when Steam came to Linux, bunch of Linux users throw their money on 5hity ports, 2D and indy games. Most of small/indy developers are Microsoft only programmers and their ports use technology that is useless to most of Linux community and they will never learn to code portable (aka Linux friendly) code. Good job by supporting inherently anti-linux developers and software, now more beneficial developers to Linux community are hardly breaking even. Change your tactics guys!

Dungeon Defenders II Linux Version Is On The Roadmap

Metascore 83% on Windows only. DD Linux version buggy, no PhysX (which breaks endgame), very poor performance on some maps, random crashes. After reporting bugs to icculus zero ducks where given, same happened to Red Orchestra and Killing Floor bugs.

DDE black screen after starting a game. Just go to DDE steam forums and enter "linux" in search box, read couple of threads, just do it.

Trendy does not deserve any PR from Linux community and there will not be anything possitive about DD1/E/2 on Linux.
