Raspberry Pi 500+ announced as their premium desktop keyboard PC

I imagine this offering will be fairly annoying for the people who just wanted a plain pi500 with m.2 slot. That's double the price, with as an extra sprinkling of frustration the obvious fact that the slot could have been included in the first place.

... I have to admit that I still primarily use Firefox on my daily driver laptop. It has all the plugins I prefer installed and it's curated by Linux Mint.
Mint does not curate firefox. In fact, since 2022 the version included with mint is managed directly by mozilla.

ChimeraOS dev announced Kazeta, a new Linux OS aimed at recreating a classic console experience

For collections on a single sdcard one could create menus similar to the blast16 and sneses for the pi, or what the evercade is doing with their cartridges.

Methinks one could also use Kazeta for other software, so you get a multiple-single-purposes machine. Want some distractionless typing? Chuck in wordgrinder. Drawing? Krita, media center? Kodi, and so on.

Surprised not to see (yet) some "I was interested but Denuvo" posts.
The denuvo tanked any interest before there was any chance for me to know whether or not I would have had it.

Steam UK users will now need a credit card to access mature content due to the Online Safety Act

They should start selling special 18+ versions of their steam wallet cards in shops.

If a credit card is good enough, those should also do fine.

So, are those games going to be released on their vcs?

Sorry (not), but couldn't resist after having been bashed here for "negativity" and "sarcasm" before that thing's release.

Nexus Mods announce age verification for UK users

They said EU users will "follow once laws in your region require it" and other countries as their laws come in.
Interestingly, the eu method of verification seems somewhat more sensible, where the digital attest is restricted so much that the service that requires the age-check only gets to see the verification of the age and the party that issued the attest has no way of seeing what service it is used for.

None of that silly sending of your id to the more seedy corners of the internet.

@Linux_Rocks While it is a good cause in its own right, I will confess that anti-anti-dei considerations add some extra spice to supporting it.

That will go down well, I'm sure.

I know they are not developing any more, but they still face an uphill battle with convincing players, with the distasteful stain of gollum on their reputation and the steady stench of big ben interactive looming over them.

Linux Mint 22.2 Beta available for the next long-term supported release

As Stella's comment on inability to view which apps are installed in the application manager . . . that's probably true
Just checked on my install to see whether I was misremembering: it ain't true.

One of the options in the hamburger menu of the software manager is to display installed applications. Furthermore, one can also view said list with the included backup tools which, by the way, by default do not do anything unless one tells them to.

Running mint xfce 21.3. Things may have changed in the new beta, but I doubt it.
