You really should check out iBomber Defense Pacific [1], its like a military themed version of Kingdom Rush. Its pretty old now but still a great game.

Linux marketshare on Steam dropped again in October, as China takes a massive chunk of the market

I bet its due to a configuration change in the great firewall rather than millions of new Chinese steam users signing up in the last month.

I posted this comment on the recent icculus thread but it got pretty lost amongst all the wishlisting. I though I would repost here as its more on topic:

I got more interested in the patreon model a few weeks back when I read these articles [1 [External Link]] [2 [External Link]]. Consequently I went looking for people I though worth funding, heres what I found:

I'm sure I missed some, if you know of other interesting people or projects in the open source gaming space please post them in the comments. I'll update this comment with any additions.

Oh and I just discovered graphtreon [External Link] in the comments here, looks like icculus's post [External Link] has given him a good boost, quite a lot of it because of the gamingonlinux article no doubt.

* If you don't know who Joey Hess is he was a Debian developer for a long time, SteamOS stands directly on his shoulders. These days he works on useful stuff like git-annex [External Link] which can be useful for game developers wanting to store large files in git [External Link].

Ryan "Icculus" Gordon is looking for new games to port to Linux, pay not required

Forgetting about the games for a moment, lets take a second to reflect how great it is that the community is funding Ryan to work on useful stuff that benefits us all (Linux gamers) directly. A good example is the fact Ryan has been able to work on https://icculus.org/physfs/ [External Link] full time for the last month or so because of patreon funders.

The open source Vulkan driver 'radv' for AMD on Linux has patches for geometry shader support

Very interesting talk by David Airlie at linux.conf.au 2017 where he discusses the development of this driver https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynyO3O3zd3E [External Link]

Interesting stuff at the end about valve hiring Samuel Pitoiset to work on this driver and their focus on getting steamVR going on it. The also sent Dave a HTC vive.
