What game would you most like to see on Linux this year?
29 Feb 2016 at 3:37 pm UTC

Dirt Rally
Project Cars
Carmageddon
BeamNG drive
Rocketleague

...yeah, I like racing games ^^

But Just Cause 3 would be really nice too.

Stainless Games announce another Carmageddon game, Linux & Mac gamers not happy
24 Feb 2016 at 11:39 am UTC

BTW: looks like stainless already gave us the promised "clear statement":
Hey guys,

We are still committed to bringing you Mac and Linux versions but whilst work is still ongoing for the PC version we're not able to give a definitive answer as to when they will arrive. As soon as we have further information we'll share it with you - rest assured we have not forgotten you!

I'm still very interested in that game but the waiting and the lame communications is kind of frustrating.

BattlEye anti-cheat now supports Linux, already live in ARK: Survival Evolved
11 Feb 2016 at 11:12 am UTC

So now that was fast - those guys at wildcard never fail to surprise me.

Quoting: BeamboomHow is the performance of ARK these days? I recall it was pretty bad around launch?
Could still be better but it has improved over time. Especially (OSS-)radeon-performance is much better now... but maybe it's just the drivers that matured.

Quoting: rkfgI suppose not only it still has bad performance but also bad visuals. IIRC, the engine supports OGL 4.5 but they for some reason only support 3.x on Mac/Linux. And the "True Sky" plugin isn't supported on those platforms completely.
Comparing to the windows version it really looks awful. I hope the devs will add OGL > 3.x support when the game is finished. And I hope it ever gets finished at all - unlike rust. At least the devs seem to care much more about their product and have some kind of a roadmap and listen to suggestions from the community.

Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition now available for Linux, texture issues
9 Feb 2016 at 5:02 pm UTC

I also experienced that low-res-texture-problem with dying light (without DLC) on a GTX970 - but rather rarely; perhaps once in 5h playtime. Restarting the game usually helps.

No, Linux is not at 1900 games on Steam, we didn't get 100 games in nine days

or was it how blunt I was about it?
Possibly that's the reason... at least your comment in the phoronix forum sounds pretty abrasive to me. Don't know what you've written on softpedia though.

Codeweavers CrossOver 15.0.1 is now available

Heroes of might and magic III, Settlers IV, Flatout 2, Dirt 3, Skyrim... these are games I really wouldn't like to miss. So Wine is pretty important to me. And it works much better than I initially expected.

Mesa 11.1.1 available, has patches for GRID Autosport

Sounds great. I have issues with blooming (being... well... way too bloomy) and splitscreen not working properly on my secondary PC (R9 270). Hope the fixes get implemented in oibafs ppa soon...

User Submitted Editorial: Current Linux gaming situation

Games of the year for me:
)Cities Skylines - was really fun for a while but performance is still horrible on a GTX970
)Ark Survival - spent many many hours on it. Performance is ok but there are still many opengl4.x fx missing which keeps going unnoticed by most players though. Stopped playing because there's too much change after each update. And the dev's update quite rigorously.
)Dying light - just bought it a month ago and I'm still into it. Also performs really nice and I just had one crash so far.
)Broforce - surprisingly good.

Disappointments of the year:
)Carmageddon Reincarnation - because the devs still didn't deliver.
)Project cars - ditto
)Dirt showdown - First ever native linux car racing AAA-Title (which I've been waiting for a long time)... but totally arcade style with ridiculous physics. Even Flatout 2 is more realistic (and runs perfect in wine).
)Obey - was quiet fun in the trailers but in reallife people don't play it as advertised. It relies heavily on communication... usually there's just 1 or 2 players with a microphone in game and the other players play muted which is really boring then.

Feral Interactive have a big sale on their store

It's a shame there's not a single feral-port that I'd like to play. Only interesting title is for mac... *sigh*

There's A Possibility Of Just Cause 3 Coming To SteamOS/Linux
23 Oct 2015 at 9:49 am UTC

Quoting: ChiKinI think this is highly doubtful. More likely a misunderstanding.
I also think it's not very likely - but JC3 is at the moment the only AAA title I really would like to buy. So let's hope avalanche is out for some experimenting.
