While we seem to be on that topic already: REGoth also makes progress [External Link] but I haven't tried it yet.

Edit: They even have a release commentary [External Link] for 0.4 o.O I've gotta watch it later.

Open source game engine 'GemRB' for Bioware's Infinity Engine games updated

Quoting: razing32Do the games run better in GemRB than they do in say wine ?
Depends. Here's what they said on their Wiki [External Link]:
GemRB is quite complete, especially regarding BG2, BG1 and IWD1 which can be played through. The whole Baldur's Gate saga is completable. There is of course still stuff to be done.

PST is roughly completable (looking for testers), while IWD2 is not1). Both still require a lot more love to reach the level of the other games.
Plus: GemRB lacks support for multiplayer/co-op. They once thought about reinventingimplementing the weel DirectPlay but they currently have no plans on that topic. I just hope they'll ditch multiplayer-compatibility to the original games and grab something like RakNet for that task.

Quoting: mcphailYep. I followed some links on GOG [External Link] and got it working on Ubuntu 16.04 a few weeks ago.
Thanks! I'm surprised that these old binarys still work. The last time I tried them I was running something called "Mandrake Linux" xD
Quoting: jnriversThis was the Bioware RPG that deserves credit for getting me into the whole genre.
Still play it on occasion and the Linux version is actually pretty solid.
I'd be more impressed if NWN2 somehow got brought over to our OS.
Same here!

Oh ... okay :( That's sad. But thanks for the info!

Multiplayer Co-op? Or kinda "hotseat"-like? Last time I've checked PoE only supported single player but maybe I've been misinformed.
