Quoting: tuubiAgreed, there are other, better places to waggle your tongue.Quoting: 14I am against the cultural trend of pom poms for everything, and if you are against something, be silent. That is dangerous. There's nothing dangerous about a Linux gaming site disallowing inflammatory, non-gaming related topics of discussion, if only to keep the community welcoming and inclusive. No need for the drama. Surely we can agree that you're not owed a platform and/or an audience whenever and wherever you decide to voice an opinion.
If you feel like your cause is just and important, by all means, protest and discuss to your heart's content, but please find a more suitable venue for it. Maybe one of the gazillion political discussion platforms out there, or your local pub.
You should avoid the stock Firefox install on Steam Deck as it's badly outdated (updated)

I just checked, the version in Debian Stable is 91.11.0. So there's that!
The problem with basing on Arch in the first place is that people will now expect it to be up to date and rolling. When they based on Debian people also expected it to be rock solid and updated whenever security / bug fixes were released. Expectations are important.

Quoting: officerniceBased on Arch but updating like Debian :D 96 is ages old by now. What version is the ESR? Are they backporting fixes? Just because it's 96 doesn't mean it's old/out of date. Granted it still could be..

Now that being said, the reason I put 'voted' in quotes is because of recently in Utah everyone voted for marijuana to be legal here. Instead the government pretty much just said 'well... it'll sort of be legal. You have to have an ailment on this very limited list, and you're not allowed to use it just for fun... or for anything besides this tiny list...' So even though the majority ruled, the ones who actually write the laws didn't pass any of the ones that were voted for.
Inevitably Utah is one that had a 'trigger' law, that had basically been in place 'just in case' Roe v Wade was overturned. Papa Gov knows best, right?

Quoting: Liam DaweI actually find it fascinating from a point of view that it isn't that overturning Roe v Wade is permanently banning abortion, it's just clarifying which states have 'voted' to allow it to stay around, as it's now a state level decision, and not a federal one.Quoting: EikeI understand what you mean but some have taken it too far in reply to others that we’ve had to remove.Quoting: Liam DaweSpread positivity, not negativity.Hmm... I'm pro abortion rights. But I think this topic is different from say racism. I understand why some people feel strongly about abortion and couldn't possibly be positive about this.

I actually was wondering how hard it'd be for someone to actually swap out the screen for an OLED... was playing my Deck last night with the lights off, and the bleed from the back light in the corners was extremely noticeable (though not as much once the Deck was up and running)

Quoting: CalinouStill, I think Valve did the right move by using a 1280×800 display, but I wouldn't mind if it was OLED or could go above 60 Hz :)I understand why they didn't do either. Cost for the OLED, Performance for the 60hz. I mean the onboard graphics would have basically infuriated people if they tried to force everything to 144hz, when the hardware simply isn't there to be able to push that high.

Quoting: MohandevirI am reminded of the Librem 5 phone. Years later, people are still receiving them, but it sure feels like they are sending out like 5 peer month...Quoting: denyasisSo that's about 118,000 Deck Users. I guess that's a good number for sales, but I guess I was expecting the over all Linux % to be more positively affected by the Deck. I guess it'll take more time. Hopefully it translates into more mainstream Linux use as well.I'm wondering if Valve wasn't also using Q1 and Q2 shipments for beta testing. They might have voluntarily reduced the quantity of units shipped to avoid being overwhelmend by support tickets. Probably they feel more confident now, because the first batch of Q3 emails is like a tidal wave compared to what it was before, in terms of units shipped. Looking forward for next months Linux market share.

Look at all the things they have done toward this, the Steam Link, Controller and now Deck. If they could have combined the Link and Controller together, it could have been a semi-portable system, not unlike what the Deck became. The Steam Deck just happens to have been able to be developed because AMD is now capable of making very small form factor systems, due to all of their experience from years of designing consoles.

Quoting: Mountain ManMy thoughts on the cancelation of the Steam Controller... was not based on sales (or lack of) but so they could focus solely on the Deck. If you look at earlt prototypes of the SC, it almost looked exactly like the Steam Deck. Touch screen and all. I think essentially what happened was when they were first designing the controller they wanted a sort of controller / streaming system that could connect to your PC to play games.Quoting: slaapliedjeI would be all in for an update of the Steam Controller. Will it happen, though? Apparently the original Steam Controller didn't sell enough for Valve to bother keeping it on the market, so I don't know how eager they are to bring it back.Quoting: mphuZIt's a shame that Valve hasn't released the SteamOS desktop distribution yet.We need a Steam Controller 2 to properly use the Deck's UI on the desktop... we are missing, at the very least, tge Steam button and the one that brings up tge overlay.
And even the new Big Picture is missing in the beta version of Steam.
There is a way to use the DeckUI on the desktop now, with just normal Steam.

EU IV seems to run just fine, btw. Granted I just loaded it up as the native version, and did not play it much. Text is pretty small, even at 1.1 scaling, which I can't really tell if it is bigger or smaller.
