F1 2017 released for Linux as Feral Interactive’s first Vulkan-only title, here’s a port report
2 Nov 2017 at 7:31 pm UTC

I'm guessing that even with the Vulkan renderer, there is still a lot of Direct X draw calls being used in the game for shader effects, which explains the worse performance. But at the same time, I still have to give Feral a lot of props for porting another racing game to Linux.

Steam now has over 3,500 games for Linux, with GOG having over 700

While we're on the subject, GOG now has about 719 games that support Linux, so their library is growing for us too. It pales in comparison to Steam though. GOG are much more selective about what they allow on their store overall, so it's to be expected.
GOG:
Windows compatible games: 2100
Mac OSx compatible games: 1063 (just over 50%)
Linux compatible games: 719 (just over 34%)

Linux support on GOG hasn't been around as long as Mac Support. But still not bad considering. GOG has been giving solid support for Linux, but they still need to get around to releasing GOG Galaxy for the platform.

I also think Humble Bundle does a good job with Linux releases too.

Huh? What are they doing with Skype?

Well that is a recent development that I am unaware of. Their last release of Skype went without any updates for over two years now. The previous client lacked almost every current feature of Skype and was absolutely painful to use.

I'm totally OK with this. It's a great game and Linux could use another third person adventure game.

Arma 3 Compared On SteamOS & Windows

I am still not a fan of using virtual programming for Linux ports, it still feels a little skeezy to me. But I really can't deny the great work that eON has been doing with these ports. I am impressed that the performance is actually better in some instances on SteamOS. This is a massive leap ahead of the performance that you would get while running the game in wine or some other virtual machine.

Bravo eON!

I'd like to see how this would stack up to Windows 8.1 or 10 though.
