In fact, they didn't say it was loss to them. They said it was comparingly easy, but QA and testing involved seem to be burden for them - that or they don't know how to do it cheaply. So my guess they didn't lose money on port. However they expected bigger sales for some reason.

I think this is why sometimes devs get PR training - even with market share small as 1.5%, there's really no point pissing off your customers like this. Especially when further answers indicate they still want to work with Linux, which leaves potential customer like me very confused.
I think experience is something you gain and if you keep pushing it you get very good at it. I don't see reason why having Linux development experience is bad for Obsidian.

Quoting: Beta VersionSony being with Khronos isn't rumor and I don't see them any reason why they would have to deny low level API implementation. They aren't Nintendo.Quoting: Avehicle7887Looks yummy, personally I see no reason why companies would choose DX12 over this.Because XBox One will use DX12, while Vulkan on PS4 is just a rumor for now. I guess Windows 10 + XBox One will have higher market share, than Win+Mac+Linux.
Quoting: FiBuI mean actually published games. Alphas/pre-alphas/betas doesn't really count.Quoting: PeciskAshes of singularity is using dx 12. I have done some benchmarks(this is only pre-alpha so dx 12 perfomance can be totally changed but I was curious). I was really suprised that my i5 4590 is running dx 12 much better than any amd procesor. I have been thinking that with dx 12 amd procesors with more cores will beat intel(especially that creators of Ashes of singurality have good relationship with AMD) . I was really suprised with my gtx 760 performance on dx 12 too. It is much worse than on dx 11!(Except that as I said before the game designers have a good relationship with AMD .) I hope vulcan will run better on my gtx. Games is the only thing that keeps me using Windows and vulcan finally can change this. The more I see of Vulkan, the more impressed I'm becoming, and the more excited I'm getting. I don't want to get too excited though, as it's still going to be some time before it's finished and it's actually in any games. That kinda didn't stop DirectX12 from being hyped to sky high, despite not having actual games using it yet.

Yeah, they better deliver on OpenGL which I see to being around for quite some time.

To be fair, he kinda didn't said there won't be delay for Mac/Linux, but company clearly don't shy from saying loud that it will support these systems. So I am still not convinced there won't be delays, but it plays very little as long as they have clear follow up about it soon.

Quoting: MohandevirIn this exemple, you can really see the load balancing between cpu cores and it's great but there's nothing about switchable gpus. They can balance the load in this aspect too, so I read, on pcgaming. They are able to give some tasks to the Intel onboard gpu while the NVidia or AMD graphic card keep its ressources to deal with the most serious tasks.Yeah, idea is that both DirectX12 and Vulkan will remove need for artificial hardware level constructs like SLI. Graphics engines will be able to be run multithreaded, utilizing memory as they see fit. That's why all high level stuff was removed, because OpenGL was basically an engine - from times when there was no one else to draw that box on screen. Now, while I still see OpenGL being beneficial for many devs, Vulkan plus good engine will make wonders - including scenarios where it will be able spread graphics work to multiple completely unrelated graphics cards and all your CPUs.

So much smoother, nice!
Also majority of people using OGL ES and Vulkan are/will be engine devs anyway, and most of them will be very happy as they will get more control over memory management and multi-threading.
Also Ars Technica reports that Android will move to Vulkan API as default graphics API.

This is very important. This tells that Vulkan spec is truly finished (otherwise they wouldn't talk about drivers), Nvidia has been for long time with Vulkan and Linux graphics debugger to make OpenGL games run faster - yes, please!
I expect AMD to talk about their Vulkan efforts too. With Mesa3D finally getting OpenGL 4 compatibility, this is truly exciting times. There's lot of things to be done but this is certainly signal moving forward.
