No, and there never will be. This is an online game only.
According to the article and the Steam store page it does have a singleplayer mode, so not sure?

Microsoft president admits they were wrong on open source

I don't trust ANY big business, because every sufficiently large corporation in history has turned out to be evil. That being said, saying "sorry" goes a long way with me. It's certainly appreciated!

Let's be honest, MS won't open-source Windows anytime soon. It won't go THAT far. But with their focus now being cloud-services, they are well aware that the open source community is no longer a threat to them, because it no longer directly competes with them. On the contrary, they might even find a lot of OSS projects useful to them. Also, MS is probably aware as well as we are that they have lost the OS war. Yes, yes, they still have a near-monopoly on the desktop, but if you look at the ENTIRE devices market (which includes smartphones, tablets wearables etc.), they have a laughable market share these days.

So it makes sense, really. MS is probably better off embracing OSS these days than actively fighting it. It's the better business decision and they are a business.

I'd guess comparable to Sims 1 and Sims 2? Better looks and hopefully some improved mechanics, without destroying what made the older title great! :D

I am curious if they can really pull it off to make the game more accessible without dumbing it down. But this is definitely my most anticipated game of 2020. Can't wait! :)

As much as I despise Epic as a company, but that looks pretty amazing for sure! Give credit where credit is due! But yeah, it'd better run on Linux!

Fine. Let the facts speak, then.

Fact is that Civ 6 WAS their last Linux port. Yeah, I get it, just negativity.

Aspyr Media, who did the original Linux port of Sid Meier's Civilization VI have been contacted about it. They've been pretty silent recently (Borderlands 2/TPS are missing updates)...
I've been largely disappointed with Aspyr. They did some good work early on bringing games to Linux and then all but abandoned the platform.
If they're getting these DLC up at the same time, as we've been told and quoted in the article, they've clearly not abandoned it.
To be fair, this is very likely because of their agreement with Firaxis covering the DLCs, so they probably HAVE to. Aspyr did NOT port any newer game to Linux since then. They did indeed abandon Linux.
