A look over the ProtonDB reports for June 2019, over 5.5K games reported to work with Steam Play

Can you use Steam Play on Windows? I haven’t had Windows install for a couple years now.
Would be an interesting incentive for some to at least dual-boot to play some cherished classic games. Completely backwards to the reason most people did/do dual boot.

Quoting: gojulGood that games work perfectly with Proton as native ports get more and more scarce. On the flip side Proton works so well that some games that stopped working on Windows like Act of Treason and it made some ports unnecessary. This made me stop and think.

What have you been playing recently and what do you think of it?

Been playing a lot of Mad Max and The Witcher 3.
Both games have a lot to explore if you don't want to just plough through the main story line.
Both run excellently with Proton, haven't found any issues with many hours of play.

Quoting: GuestWhy would you worry to break an EULA? Did you really read all and agree? They enforce this after buying the game anyway and do not care to make the game run fine on your platform. So they take your money, show you later an EULA, enforce you to agree with everything as otherwise they blocking you from using the game. Fixing a game that I own and paid for is my right :-)Its not the EULA for the game I'm worried about breaking, it's Steam's terms of service and losing my account/library :D

I have a few single player games that will not work due to DRM issues.
I’m curious as to what Steam’s terms of service are on modifying the game files as there are obviously removal tools from the pirate community.
On one hand, yes you are removing a “security feature” and likely breaking the EULA of that particular game.
On the other hand, since it was purchased on Steam. The fact that you paid for that game is 100% verifiable ?

I changed my Wine usage setting due to Proton
Should we differentiate between Wine & Proton/Steamplay now?
Cheers
Edit:
Should have read the earlier comments lol

I've also been enjoying this game.
I briefly played Theme Hospital many years ago but never really got into it.
I've only had one issue with it and I haven't had it happen again:
When I got the starting hospital up to 3 stars, I went through the "awards ceremony" and immediately went to save and quit. The game started obsessively writing to swap (still lots of RAM) which slowed IO down and, as a result, system responsiveness. I had to move to a terminal and forcibly kill the process.

Quoting: Avehicle7887396.45Quoting: WoodlandorOddly enough, for me, Doom works perfectly with the OpenGl 4.5 renderer.Since you're using a GTX 760, which driver version are you running? It shouldn't matter much since the game is already a couple years old and Vulkan didn't have as many extensions back then but you never know, it's the first place I'd start.
With the Vulkan renderer, the lighting doesn't seem to work.
Haven't quite figured that one out yet.

For those having trouble getting this to work, 2 things:
1) A re-released update came about 15 minutes after the first (check for steam updates)
2) I had to restart my computer (log-out and back in would probably suffice)
Now I can install the selected white-listed games I own, and the Settings menu no longer Seg-Faults the Steam client.
Hope that helps
Cheers!

I emailed the developer quite a few weeks ago and they provided me with a link to download the alpha version for Linux.
I just recently received an email from them with instructions to access the beta build directly through Steam. That sort of surprised me... I guess they actually keep track of who is testing the game and provided direct notification for updates :O
I've never had the game crash since I began playing/testing the Linux build. The latest update fixed some issues with some of the settings menus (which were semi-unusable, but easy to set graphics settings etc. through the games config files). There are still a few minor graphic issues and text alignment/layout problems but they are few and far between. I haven't come across any game-breaking bugs, just minor aesthetic quirks.
Good game, very interesting and well written.
