Had my eye on this one for a while since I was a hard core Never Winter Nights guy, glad they are taking the time to fix it.

Looks really cool, my only question is does anyone know if this is a [ Online Only ] title and you can not play it a offline mode? This is what I heard and it concerns me, man I hope this is not true?

Quoting: ShaoluWhen I showed this demo to my wife and asked her what she thought, she shrugged her shoulders and said "It looks a lot like that other game you play all the time" to which I replied "Trine?" and she confirmed, "Yeah."

So, yeah, definitely a beautiful looking game :)
Very cool, I am a big fan of Trine 1 and 2 they are awesome games, I look up to them. So to have your wife compare it visually to my own game(which is 2D not 3D) is really cool and that you dig it as well. Thanks! I really appreciate that.

Sucks what happened to Trine 3 though I feel bad for the guys :( , its a good game just on the short end(but they explain why). I really hope they make 4 and build off 3 and not end the series. If $ was such an issue though they should really just go back to only 2D gameplay like in 1 and 2 and just follow that formula to keep the series alive.

Awesome article flesk, you covered some really good projects, I am backing a bunch of them my self(good choices). I really like that you guys have an article on normal crowdfunding projects, most sites ignore them and only care about the popular ones that have some sort of "Rock Star" in them or team. Heck the sad truth is most sites don't care about 95% of the projects and almost discredit them which is sad if you consider the creativity and quality.

This sure shows that there are many hidden gems that deserve to be backed and show what the indie scene can produce its pretty cool to see as a gamer and developer it makes me happy.

Some projects I recently like [Tower 57] this is one of my favs I backed recently: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/514621648/tower-57/description [External Link] a cool top down twin shooter, they made their own game engine like my self rad tech and gameplay.

[Battle Chasers: Nightwar] pending Linux support they need votes https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1548028600/battle-chasers-nightwar/description [External Link]

* Make sure * you guys vote for [Battle Chasers: Nightwar] if interested the devs are interested in Linux version -> http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/512363629/517141624282283466/ [External Link] looks rad.

Cool stuff thanks for the article.

Here is a better version with more animation frames @ 30FPS not full 60FPS 30 FPS version "Corpse Explosion" skill [External Link]

Also here are some new screen shot links for those interested, WIP of course of the demo area :

Quoting: KelsWow, that's seriously hard on the eyes. Everything is so neon and fuzzy, it's hard to make out what's important and what's background. Nice water reflections, though.
Hi, I am the developer of this game and the creator of Corpses 'N Souls. Thanks, I am glad you like the reflections.

The game is not fuzzy that is just YouTube if you select 1440p it makes it a bit better and if you also view it on a 1080p screen(this is not a pixel art game, the smaller the screen you view it on the worst it looks). Note its difficult to show off a high detailed 1080p game on YouTube since their bit rates are so low it damages the quality, this is normal.

Here is a cropped 1080p screen: * these are all WIP, I am still working on gameplay atm, this is from a demo area *

Source: cropped 1080p source screen [External Link]

Here is a full quality 1080p screen(same one with the HUD):

Source: Full 1080p source screen [External Link]

Also note this is just a demo area that you see in the video where I implement technology and gameplay mechanics its not the actual games level.

Quoting: Avehicle7887Just a question to the Dev, do you have any plans of releasing the game DRM-Free on stores such as GOG?

Thanks
Most likely, for I feel those that pirate(and they do) won't buy it anyways, of course if you do Steam only you may save some sales but I don't think its worth it. I will look into DRM free just not sure who I will go with am a fan of GOG though and The Witcher of course.

Quoting: noinformationhereI really agree with this. I think of games like Guacamelee, Outland, Teslagrad, Dust and "You have to Win the Game." Each has a slightly different style of control, but they are all quite carefully balanced. Finding that balance and making it work with game controllers is so important. Having tight controls means I don't mind higher difficulty because I know that failure is my fault and not the game being clumsy.

Good luck on getting your game out there!
I have all of those games and play them and think they are awesome games. They do have really good controls, Ori is another favorite of mine that plays really well and Axiom Verge.

I will be making sure that I focus on good controls for you can have the best graphics etc in your game and if the game does not play well or the controls feel bad you already have failed.

Thanks, and for your feedback.

Quoting: MGOidWhen I first saw this game here I immediately understood that YouTube was ruining the details in the game. Is good that the developer learn quickly how to fix this.

As a recently converted indie gamer (my library is loaded with indie games now), my advice to you is: make the controls right.

First, make sure that all the most commons joypads out there are working with your game. It is shocking that a lot of indie games that are made to work with joypads first can't get then to work at the start. A game with problems in the control area makes a very bad first impression. People use joypads in the PC now, don't kid yourself thinking otherwise. Some masochists like to play a non FPS/strategy game in mouse/keyboards, but they are a minority.

Second, spend a good time making the controls response right. And a good button mapping. Games with good controls are almost always well received. Bad controls only threw people away from your game.

And last, good sound effects. The gamer will heard it a lot, so making pleasant sounds only contribute to a good game experience.
No your 100% right about the controls and I am totally aware of this, I play a lot of games all the time and your right so many indie games have only K&M support I don't get it? Well I admit I have a bunch of Computer friends who think computer = K&M and that gamepads are for consoles only and its sacrilege to use a gamepad. I don't agree with that way of thinking at all I play with a gamepad(and it works really damn well), K&M(certain games Diablo 2, 3 etc), or a M&Razor Orbweaver(like a G13). Devs really should always support Gamepads(& it = mandatory) its not only for consoles that is sort of a crazy way to think. Well that is my opinion. Good news my engine and Corpses 'N Souls already works with a XB1 and Xbox 360 gamepad as well as a K&M.

"controls response right" This is why its important to play a lot of good games so you know how good controls feel then you can program and tweak them in your game so they feel just right. Its a very important part of the game, I will. Same with re mapping of keys I like to make sure that is included as well for it should be.

Thanks for the feedback I totally agree with you.
