Worms W.M.D is out day-1 on Linux, here's some early thoughts
23 Aug 2016 at 7:24 pm UTC

Hi guys,

it runs reasonably well for me. First of all: I needed to install the libbsd package.
That is fine, I am running Fedora 64-Bit and not Ubuntu or SteamOS. Now to the game: For some reason
the mouse disappears every five seconds or so (looses focus) and I only see it again when
I left-click. I experienced the same issues as liam when it comes to fullscreen. Otherwise
the game recognises my keyboard and mouse inputs just fine.
What I am not happy about is the performance. Sure I have an older laptop (Lenovo Y500) but after all:
I get that the occasional framedrops while playing Enter the Gungeon on 1920x1080 with 20
enemies on the screen and hundreds of bullets flying around.
I'm not a game developer, but I don't fully understand why moving a worm around on a 2d landscape
(whilst quite literally nothing else is moving) is so demanding on the cpu or graphics card.
From the games I played on this laptop I would have expected a better performance, but that maybe
just me.

Best regards

Mojang working on new launcher for Minecraft, Linux might not see support

Mh.
Mojang bought by Microsoft -> multi-platform support no longer a priority...

Surprise. No one saw that coming.

Death Road to Canada released on Steam with Linux support, some thoughts

Hey Liam,
thank you for the insightful review.

The game is awesome.
When you start playing it, it may feel too dependent on RNG.
But the game is built around replayability. After a while you learn about whether
a random event can be useful or not, which pretty much depends on your team, loadout
and resources at the time. In that respect it is somewhat similar to FTL (Nooo, don't
fight the Giant Alien Spiders). The Beat 'em up parts are also pretty exciting.

I highly recommend this game.

I usually just ignore users like "meraco". Good to see that
developers do the same.

THERE IS a difference between asking a developer
to support your favorite OS (otherwise you cannot play)
and asking a developer to not support an OS you are
not using (Why would you care?).
