Become a futuristic gladiator in the upcoming 'Killing Room', an unforgiving rogue-like FPS

Quoting: GuestHere [External Link] is a very strict definition (called the Berlin Interpretation). This game is not a Roguelike by this definition.

A much more liberal definition would be a game with procedurally generated levels & permadeath.

like AnxiousInfusion Said though, it's a poor genre name. Just try comparing the gameplay of Rogue to this game, they could not be more different. The biggest thing being Rogue is turn based :/.
Quoting: slaapliedjeCan I be the first to say that Rogue-like is SO overused these days to describe a game. It shouldn't even realistically be a proper description for most of these games.
Indeed, the word rogue-like nowadays refers to something very different, with several changes if you want to abide to the original definition. The problem is that if I don't use the word, the title of the article would be excessively long and the idea is that people needs to quickly understand what kind of game the article will describe, so I can't avoid using it. Though, you don't have to worry, because in the event that a game which respects the original definition is released, it will be referred as a purist rogue-like.

Thanks for your comments.

Quoting: hardpenguinHey! That looks seriously cool! Thanks for featuring it :)
Quoting: LinasThanks for sharing this SangreDeReptil. I greatly enjoy reading about your findings of stuff that I would probably never have heard of otherwise.
You're welcome. I'm glad you both find it nice. Considering that there won't be a third chapter of Hotline Miami because of the way the sequel ends, I think this one might become a good successor.

Humble Indie Bundle 17 released

One small note: Regency Solitaire wasn't listed as a game with Linux support, despite having a DRM-Free build. I contacted the developer and now it's correctly featured.

Developer claims that a Linux port for retro-themed adventure 'Lucius Demake' may be done if there is interest

It isn't a fan demake, because the studio precisely hired the fan who came with the idea.

Humble Indie Bundle 17 released

This bundle is excellent and I bought it immediately for the following reasons:

- Games with Linux support? All.
- Games with DRM-Free option? All.
- Games with positive reviews? All (3 of them with overall 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews from Steam users).
- Games finished (no Early-Access state)? All.

Also, you can gift the Steam keys of games you already have. I'm not sure if this is common nowadays at Humble Bundle, but in previous years this wasn't possible, at least in the bundles I bought.

Let's hope they continue the trend with the games that still need to be revealed.

Random Access Murder is quite possibly the most annoying game ever made

SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell, the heavy metal first-person platformer is now officially out

I tried the demo and it's amazing. It's not only about speedrunning, it's also a great exploration game: there are at least eight Easter Eggs and a hidden level.

Personally, I like to use alternate accounts exclusively for these giveaways and subscriptions; that way, you can keep some order and also it's easier to read the news or be aware of giveaways you'll be interested in.
