It works quite good, except for 2 major bugs.
1) Black screen with kwin and maybe several other window managers, meaning you need to start the game in a separate x window with xstart etc...
2) There are random crashes that occur and yet unexplained, I've had them on the main menu and also in-game, could be related to bug (1).
Hopefully they sort it out soon.
PS. Google just recently ported HLSL to Linux so now it should be possibly to run HLSL with Vulkan, without much change or something. That nugget is on phoronix news post.
PS2. To bypass the kwin and perhaps other window manager black screen issues, do the following in a new tty. (ctrl-alt-f2 for example)
cd '(steampath)/steamapps/common/War Thunder/' && startx ./linux64/aces Or just kill kwin_x11 before starting game.
I have NOT adjusted the path.

I don't think MO2 is, but possibly the usvfs system is. I might install dotnet462slim but I doubt it will make any different (hasn't in the past).

The bug fix done to Mod Organizer 2.1.2+ usvfs system isn't a 100% fix, all it does is allow it to load but not mount anything sadly. Maybe next time.

DXVK for Direct3D 11 over Vulkan in Wine has a new 0.60 release

DXVK gives around %70 of windows performance, however certain games will give less.
For example I tested Witcher3 on windows at 4k on my 1080ti and got 58fps in a certain area, and under antergos and dxvk 0.56 (around that) I got 43fps.
For me anything above 55fps is generally quite good, 43fps is a bit low and you can definitely notice the difference, next gen videocards will push the 4k fps well above 60fps hopefully so that will be very nice.

Quoting: lejimsterI would love to provide apitraces for some non-functioning games I own. But I haven't had any success using that tool so far. :(Its generally easier to do it under windows, which is why dual-boot can be quite useful. You could also install windows7 on a external SSD or fast USB driver and use that for testing and producing apitraces.

A 3D engine allows for much better tactical gameplay IMO, 2D makes for rather difficult and clunky projectile path determination and also messy destruction calculations.
3D will also allow for better details and perhaps unlocking of camera angles? dunno if that is going to be a thing or not.

The engine for Xenonauts 1 had significant issues, including of which is they didn't have full source code access to the engine to make changes themselves if I remember correctly.
Basically this limited their ability to make a port, the original coder who worked on the engine at the time left the company so they kinda were at a dead end with it hence the legacy linux support.

Just comes down to Budget. Plus I think the unreal engine might have a easier exporter to Linux? at least UE3 did, however it did have significant performance issues.
If Xenonauts developer can move to Vulkan API with the Unity3D engine then it will probably make it a whole lot easier in the long run.
