For me, its Divinity Original Sin. This is such a huge game with a good old RPG feel, split screen multiplayer and gamepad support. I've played it 2 weeks straight with my girlfriend.

Just a quick reminder that items in the backpack are muted (disabled) and cooldown at half the normal rate. So this is mostly a change to support/roamers that carry smokes and wards.

This is the engine we used when we developping "Reticle" for the Gaming on linux game jam.
This engine is very good, core concepts are simple and the scripting language okay. The only lacking point is the documentation: you must download other projects to find out how to make some things.
Try it out, I definitely recommend it for 2D games.

This could be fun, but you need some kind of glue to make people feel they are in an event, even if they are remote.
I think themes are good, because it forces you to step out of your comfort zone and open up to group ideas.
Don't restrict the API/Engine choice, not everyone is comfortable with developing these kind of software in such a short timespan. Don't forget the goal is to everyone to explore Linux game dev. as a platform and to showcase the products.
Better the games will be, better the showcase.
